I'm serious.....long time Yankees fan. I proudly wear my Thurman Munson jersey....that I bought across the street from Yankee Stadium. Their fans out number the Braves fans when they play in Atlanta too. I should know....been there done that. :D

That is the reputation about Braves fans that they don't always show up to the ol' ballpark. I too wear the pinstripes Ty, though Munson was a bit before my time. I'm more likely to be seen in a Mattingly or Jeter jersey. I'm also proud to say that Jim "Catfish" Hunter hales from a Hertfordl NC, a town minutes from where I grew up. Lots of Yankee fans down here.

You guys have a good thing going here, a good idea, a good way to stay close together. I apologized, and I had a feeling that one of you all would see the midwest thread and comment on it. I give you all the credit, I love PJ I am willing to give it a shot. Nothing personal, thanks. Just trying to get PJ to unite the country this year.

I used to go to spring training games all the time back when I was younger in Ft. Lauderdale when the Yankees held their spring practice down there and after the game all of the kids used to line-up to try and get autographs from the players, I did the same. Well, this one time, we were all waiting by the exit gate to try and catch them as they left the park and word got to us that Donnie Baseball was signing back inside the park. So, my cousin and I took off running into the park and low and behold, there was a pretty big group of kids huddled around the fence that Mattingly was at, signing balls and such. Well, I guess I got a little over excited (and impatient :) ) and pushed and shoved my way up front. Just as I made it close to the front, Mattingly started ripping me a new one- yelling at me how he would never sign my ball because I was an asshole and this and that. Now, remember I was like 12 or 13, but I was always tall for my age, so I guess I may have looked older. I was pretty sad and disappointed at the time, but now that I look back at it, I think that it's a great story! I used to tell the story in front of my old HUGE NYY fan roommate, but I always changed the ending to that he spit on me too (idea stolen from Seinfeld), but my roommate used to always say that I was lying and I pushed a handicapped kid out of the way and that's why he yelled at me like he did. haha... good times. :D

It wasn't Donnie. There was a second spitter!

BTW.... I have an autographed baseball of his. I bought it from his web site a few years ago. I figured I would never get the chance to see him in person. It sits next to my autographed Jeter card that I got signed when he was playing A ball in Greensboro.
