Hey gang--this entry marks post #5000 for me on the Message Pit. I don't have groundbreaking news or anything supremely profound to share, but I do want to use this post in this thread to say that I have ALWAYS experienced my Pearl Jam concerts in the South. And PJ have ALWAYS been the most fun and enjoyable way I could spend my concert dollars and concert energy:

    March 25, 1994 -- Memphis, TN
    September 17, 1995 -- New Orleans, LA
    October 7, 1996 -- Ft. Lauderdale, FL
    September 1, 1998 -- Atlanta, GA
    September 3, 1998 -- Birmingham, AL
    August 14, 2000 -- New Orleans, LA
    April 13, 2003 -- Tampa, FL
    October 8, 2004 -- Kissimmee, FL

In those concerts, I've experienced Elvis covers, Joey Ramone, Ben Harper, and Sonic Youth on-stage w/ PJ, Satan's Bed played as a "dance number", two Baba's, three drummers, four sets of Ten Club tickets, No Way (!), Ed presets, and countless other fun moments. This does not even begin to include all the pre-show fun and great people I've met.

Thanks to Pearl Jam and my fellow fans in the South for making those eight memorable nights. Here's to many, many more in our future together!

Tour the South like you used to, Pearl Jam!

Do you like baseball? I love it. Greatest game there is. I'll buy you tickets to the next Seminoles baseball game. We can sit together with our wives and you can plead with me to buy those Bonnaroo tickets. The four of us can make all kinds of fantastic plans to carpool and save the environment, buy food/water/beer in bulk and save money, and plan out our attack to save time over the weekend. It will be great!

Then I'll still have to come home and convince my wife that Bonnaroo expenditures will be worth it. At this point, I'm not sure I can justify it to myself. The volunteer route might be the thing to do (I got an email about that earlier today), but some serious discussion and hammering is going to have to go into it. Right now, we're pinning our hopes on a mini-tour of the south and/or a gig in NYC so that we can see baseball games during the daytime.

While at the ballpark tonight, we briefly threw out the idea of traveling to Nashville if there is an arena or fanclub show. We do some of our best thinking there in-between pitches! You should join us sometime.

Wilco's webcast from New Orleans is currently being carried by wilcoworld.net on the Roadcase page.

Look-y here. Another band that can properly tour the South on a regular basis. I wonder if they're selling any tickets to these shows? ;)

You're falling further behind week-by-week, PJ. Get on the ball!
