never advanced past the tentative stage that i know of. if it was ever officially cancelled, i didn't hear about it. the people who told me about the pre-season meeting know i'm still interested in anything new they hear or see, and since then nobody at any of the radio stations or promotion departments or even the stagehand company i work for (and they usually know before radio people) have been able to tell me anything....

It was my first taste of the Carolina-style mustard-based BBQ sauce...at Maurice's....damn fine stuff.
The Riverbanks Zoo was an interesting and well-done zoo...the penguin exhibit was top shelf.
The No Name Deli had the best Greek Salad that my wife had ever tasted.
I dropped some decent bank at Heroes & Dragons...a comic shop with a unique system for pricing back issues.
The Flying Saucer was top-notch...especially for a PJ pre-party.

After three songs, Ed mentions that they got the curfew extended for last night. Then they played, predictably, All Night. The guest vocalists were AMAZING on that one, Who You Are, and W.M.A. Felt good to see PJ bring (even) more soul and versatility to their stage presence.
Smokin' versions of Reign O'er Me and Watchtower. Mike is like a hundred bolts of lightning on stage. Ed made a speech about iTunes cards vs. LPs after Spin the Black Circle and compared it to having sex with a real woman vs. having sex with a piece of plastic. 4 from Ten, 5 from Vs., 3 from Vitalogy, 2 from No Code, 3 from YIELD, 0 from Binaural, 2 from Riot Act, 3 from Pearl Jam, 3 from Lost Dogs, 4 covers, and No More.
There was a minimal drum kit set-up behind Matt's larger kit. I presume that was in case they wanted to play Smile or another song where someone besides Matt plays drums. CJ Ramone played bass on I Believe in Miracles. Stone looks a bit like Unplugged Eric Clapton these days. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon were there. MSG felt like the only place in the country that mattered last night--to me anyhow.
AND, my wife totally rocked-out at her first Pearl Jam show. We're looking forward to enjoying tonight's show with another pair of Floridians (our friends who live in Queens).

That makes it even weirder! I was really close to Mindi, the table, etc., UNTIL they started the raffle....I was still at the same place but I almost got smothered with all the people gathered around us to hear the raffle. I was sitting at the same table as the guy(s) who won the signed (by Mike) book: they were such a trip! I still can't believe I missed you but maybe there will be a next time, hopefully much sooner!!
It's so weird how these things work: I talked to a guy here on the pit who went to the Gorge and we never met but we realized after that we were parked/camping really close to each other. PJ fans rule!
