Last week I picked up the double disc dvd of Tommy for a fiver and threw it on last night. I was unsure of what to expect really and didn't have high expectations for fear of it seemingly terribly dated, hokey and the what-not.

I was blown away. It started off a bit slow but really got rolling from Christmas onward. Clapton in Eyesight to the Blind was just incredible. The Pinball Wizard scene is easily my favourite and I have a new-found respect for Elton John. In fact that may well be one of my most favourite scenes in any movie. I just loved it.

There are a few cringe-worthy moments, such as Jack's cameo and Ollie Reed in general- but Keith Moon more than balances that out.

Though I found the finale a bit out of left field, the closer of Listening to You makes it all worthwhile.

For me, it really put today's musicians/artists into perspective. Damn, I love The Who.

I'm really interested in what others, young and old have made of Tommy.

I love the Who, but I've always hated that movie. Would it be so hard to cast someone that can sing?
