anyone done this? is it worth it? quality good? just out of interest for some oldie stuff that i have.

I do it all the time...quality depends on your equipment, but even using basic stuff you should be fine. As a matter of fact, sometimes I just hook up my Archos Multimedia Jukebox directly to my turntable and rip away. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the quality, and I can always touch things up later if necessary.

Some people like to "clean" out the cracks and pops, but sometimes that adds to the warmth of the vinyl.

it's been said, but it depends on how well you want it to sound and the equipment you use...i say, GO FOR IT...but, shit, listen to the fucking RECORD! yeah, yeah, yeah...you want to take it in the car or rip it to iTunes or whatever...ha.
