anyone else think that night 2 crushed night 1?

night one has the DVD, but i wish it was night two that has that recognition.

what did night one have? faithful, crown of thorns, breath, indifference w/ ben harper and sonic reducer.

night two? they f'ing opened with crazy mary, then went into... save you, hail hail, whipping, corduroy, red mosquito and dissident. they came out of the gate swinging!

also that night... deep, untitled/mfc, present tense, glorified g, all or none and a searing alive, and not to mention a cell phone call to johnny ramone from ed's cell phone!

i can see why night one became the DVD, but night two was more solid start to finish in my opinion.

i was lucky enough to be at both nights, but night two will forever be in my memory bank.

thought in the spirit of the upcoming MSG shows, we could talk about last time they graced the garden ground!

Both shows are so different. Night one is all about lesser known songs and some rarities. Night two is a more classic Pearl Jam show with the hits. Both are great in their own ways. When I first bought the DVD I was really baffled as to why they would make DVD out of a show with so many not-so-known songs but once I watched it all the way through I was blown away and I totally got it. Night one is really unlike almost any other Pearl Jam show. I wonder if they'll do something similar this time around.

I'd say its a wash (no pun intended). Night one had the bigtime songs, the Breaths, Crown of Thorns, In My Tree, Low Light, etc. But, night two had more generally obscure songs. Either way, both were fantastic shows and I think it's too tough to simply put one ahead of the other.

see i think night one had the bigger songs, but night two had the more obscure songs. i think alot of fans including myself would rather obscure than big.

i really hope the upcoming MSG shows are just as different/weird as they were in 03.

first. right before they played i am mine.
  • I preferred night two to night one; however I feel that both '03 shows pale in comparison to the '98 shows (well at least night 2 '98). Those were some magical nights!!!

I consider night 1 to be the greatest concert ive ever been to, by anyone. Night 2 was awesome, but it didnt have that epic feel of the first night. Night 1 reminds me of how Mccready describes Given To Fly, its like a wave and you ride it until it explodes. The show started off great and it just seemed to gain and gain in momentum and once the encores came it just exploded. Crown Of Thorns, Breath, Daughter w/ Ben Harper, Do The Evolution with the stage bouncing, Sonic and Baba with the crowd in a frenzy, and a great Ledbetter to end it. Night 2 was great but nothing that really took it to another level, night 1 had that. Plus it was a longer show, cant beat that!

What are you talking about? Night one had tons of songs from Riot Act and almost nothing from Ten, Vs., or Vitalogy. It had a few of the lesser known ones from Yield also.
