I've been hearing a lot about them lately. As a new listener, which album does one recommend I listen to first?

  • I actually think Takk is their most accessible for a new listener. That's just me; they're all excellent (except Von).

Takk is the best one to start with
“Life is life everywhere. Life is in ourselves and not outside us. There will be men beside me, and the important thing is to be a man among men and to remain a man always, whatever the misfortunes, not to despair and not to fall - that is the aim of life, that is its purpose.”

Start with Takk and work back. They are an amazing band.A very "unvisual" band live, they very much let the music speak for itself and it does. With soaring, sensual beauty.

i love the DVD they did recently .. i thought it was awesomeness encapsulated.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

  • I agree, Saeglopur is an amazing song, probably one of my favorite songs by them. I love listening to this song when I mountain bike, it's a great song to listen to when being outside and in nature. I must say Sigur Ros has got to be one the best bands if not the best band to see live. If you ever get a chance to see them it is a must do.

Kinda funny you mentioned that. I used to be involved in a Bible study, and everytime we would pray () would be playing in the background.
