From a mail I got this morning, for fans of feeder:
FEEDER, in conjunction with the charity War Child have announced two unique evenings at two legendary London venues - The Roundhouse in Camden and the Coronet in Elephant & Castle. Both shows promise special guests and surprises and all profits from the gigs will go to the charity. The band will play a full (different) set each night, and promise all the favourites as well as some unexpected appearances of old tracks
Feeder have worked with War Child over the last three years, but made their biggest commitment in June with the visit to Congo. They travelled to see the work being done in order to rehabilitate children who were recruited as soldiers in the bitter war and rebellion that has killed almost 4 million people since 1997. This was obviously a very emotional visit for the band, and they returned determined to continue their support and do as much as possible to raise money and awareness for the cause.
Vocalist Grant Nicholas explained "Our trip with War Child to the Congo had a truly profound effect on Mark, Taka and myself. As fathers we fully appreciate the scale of the job that War Child have undertaken and we are very pleased that once again we can join with them to hopefully make a considerable amount of money for those that we met in DRC. We are also very excited to be playing at 2 legendary London venues and having the opportunity to bring along some of our friends to help raise funds and really make a difference

Yeah I saw them in some real dives in London before they got big. Had a few beers with them back in the day and was invited to Jon Lee's funeral, a really good little band.

Agreed. I think one of the best, if not the best band the UK has produced in many years.
I first saw them play The Joiners in Southampton whilst I was at college. They had just release Stereo World & I though I'd check 'em out - there was no turning back after that.
Yeah stereo world was the first single I bought of theirs, and I've got a signed copy of Swim. I remember sheepishly walking up to them at the Army and Navy pub in Chelmsford to get my cd signed, but they were all really cool blokes, I got the song Descend dedicated to me that night cause I wrote into Kerrang's readers top ten and put it as number one on my list. Seems like so long ago. The next time I saw them was at the Esplanade in southend, another tiny venue where incidently Pearl Jam played back in the early 90's (if only I could have been there!!!).
You used to go to the army and navy in chelmsford? I used to love that venue! U from Chelmsford then?

Grant lives here in Camden where I work, so I sometimes see him walking about with his kid. Like you say - down to earth blokes.
