I've heard all the leaked tracks, and I heard the new song that plays over the credits of the new Leo Dicaprio flick "Body of Lies" and they're all average at best. It's hilarious that it took him this long to make such a mediocre album. I'm sure it'll sell a gazillion copies just because of the hype that's been built up, but it'll die a quick death on the charts once people realize how utterly crappy it is. I still can't figure out why he never dropped the name. This is not even close to being a Guns N' Roses album. I'd have more respect for the guy if he actually showed some balls and called it what it is: an Axl Rose solo album.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

The brand name Guns N Roses will attract more folks than an Axl Rose solo disc.

Call him what you want, but he knows how to keep his name in popular culture without doing anything...a master public relations man. :D

Very true. It's unlikely the record company would have cut him so much slack if the Guns n Roses name wasn't attached to the record - the name in itself is millions of guaranteed sales.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

Actually, there is. Now that VR has closed up shop, a full scale reunion would put things over the top.

Don't put it past Axl. He's a businessman...albeit an eccentric one.

  • I hate when people say that there is no way it can live up to the hype. Brian wilson released Smile in 2004 after working on and off on it for over 40 years, and when that got released, it was magnificent. So stop saying there's no way to live up to the hype

IRS is great...as is Madagascar. I look forward to hearing the final mixes.

The last song on the disc, Prostitute, is a really great song. Madagascar isn't bad. I've read countless posts from people THRILLED that Catcher In the Rye made the album. The Blues (Street of Dreams) is a cool song too. I'm looking forward to hearing Sorry and This I Love. Too bad The General (follow-up to Estranged) didn't make it.

If you take it for what it is, it's not bad at all. If you think it's a follow-up to real GNR albums like Appetite or the Illusions, you'll be disappointed. Personally, I wish Axl would release the 2 or 3 cds worth of material at once, so I can be overwhelmed by what he's been working on for 14 years. To digest it one cd at a time over the next few years doesn't make the most sense to me. If people don't like the first one, they sure won't buy the 2nd or 3rd one, whenever they are released.
  • I am ECSTATIC that Catcher in the Rye is on the CD. I've always felt, even through the shitty version we have that this is by far the best song from any of the leaks...I can only imagine what the album version sounds like....i think i got some drool on my keyboard.
Whats got the whole world faking?

    couple questions for you:

1 - What do you know about The General?

2 - Do you think there are 70 songs recorded in a final version, or more like 30 - as Brain stated he recorded?

3 - How long, do you think, it will take for the other songs to be officially released? a year or two after the first disc comes out?

4 - What's your thought on the third cd/album being removed from Best Buy?

    1) Not too much...the drumming is supposed to be KILLER and it's apparently a follow up of Estranged

    2) I think there are probably around 32 completely finished songs, but that is speculation based on listening/reading interviews/comments from band members

    3) Bach said that Axl told him that Chinese Democracy is suppose to be released in 2008, the second album in 2010, and the third in 2012.

    4) Well I think they are all the same cd, probably just different album cover art or maybe an extra bonus cd/dvd/track or something, or actually, one album may be unedited, the second edited, and the third is a vinyl. It has been confirmed that there will be at least one vinyl available.
