I'm not much of a country fan but I went to see David Allan Coe last night in Greensboro. He put on a great show. He played a lot of his old classics as well as a couple Allman Brothers songs, some Marshall Tucker Band, a little Prince, a Johnny Cash song and a bunch of Kid Rock stuff. He got pissed at a guy in the crowd who threw a bottle at his guitarist (his oldest son) and called the guy out and threatened to beat his ass himself. He might be old but he is still a bad ass. I know this won't be a popular thread but I figured I would post anyway.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I've heard that Kid Rock is really good in concert. A bunch of my friends went last year. I might have to go next time he comes around.

I know he had a lot of racist songs that he used to play but he recently had a black guy as his drummer so I'm not sure what to make of it.

Adam - nice to see a fellow Heels fan - I'm not sure about DAC. Saying "but I have a black drummer" sounds awfully close to "but some of my good friends are black". Anybody that can write and record the song "N***** Lover" I cannot respect or support. I'm not a fan of being PC either, but there's a line, at least for me...

I don't listen to him but someone played a song once for me and unless i missed something or it was taken out of context. He is a racisit.

So i don't want to judge too quickly because i am ignorant but if his feelings are truely those expressed in teh song I heard i would only pay money to watch him get his face kicked in.

I respect that opinion as well. I have friends who have seen him in concert and tell me that he has made statements in the past saying that he will never play the racist songs again because of their content and the fact that it goes against what he believes. They told me he said that he once felt that way but has changed his views and is not a racist. I went just to hear his old songs like You Never Even Called Me By My Name, The Ride, Take This Job and Shove It, etc. I'm not a redneck and I'm not a racist. I just went to a concert to hear a guy whose songs I enjoyed when I was younger and I enjoyed the show.

That's cool. Hopefully he is truthful about changing.

I have heard from folks that his shows are a lot of fun. I know people who swear by them.

my friend saw him in concert once. he said there was a black man actually in the audience and DAC pointed him out and made some racial comments about the guy. my friend said the guy pretty much just laughed it off. also, I have heard some of the racial songs in question. yes, it's pretty clear to me that he's a racist. the same friend met DAC the day of the show at some autograph signing and said he is pretty much a dick.

but if you like him, so what? no one needs to apologize for liking a musician or add a qualifier to it. there are plenty of rap artists and other famous black people that make racial songs and comments too.
