The guy hits some Jeff Buckley-esque notes on some songs, seriously impressive. Just wait for Summergirl (the last song clip in the video), you'll see what I mean.

  • I have to agree he is amazing but sounds nothing like that whiney bitch Buckley.

  • He is incredible. Great great singer. A hell of a nice guy too. I've had the chance to speak with him a few times.
Not to mention the dude can wail on guitar. I don't know how he sings and plays some of that stuff at the same time.

Never....NEVER put the word creed in the same sentence as Alter Bridge or Myles.

Have you ever seen the song Blackbird live? Its a masterpeice.

If you listen to his old band Mayfield Four his vocal tone and phrasing sound a lot like that 'whiney bitch' Buckley, Myles has often said that Buckley is a big influence.

Yep I have seen it live a couple of times, fucking amazing. And yeah he is a really nice guy, as down to earth as they come.

I think you should go back and listen to Buckley again, this would be comparable with the Mayfield Four song I just posted http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hm8JoMhgjRw - some definite similarities.

Can't watch youtube videos at work, it wouldn't change my mind though I just really don't hear it.

Lets just agree to disagree on that one.

We can still agree that he has an amazing voice though :)

I love it when people say stuff like "it wouldn't change my mind", how would you know? But it's fine if you don't want to listen to it.

I know because I have heard it before. It's like me telling you to go back and listen again and then it would change your mind

Maybe, but given you dismissal of Buckley as a 'whiney bitch' I doubt you will have heard every Buckley song, let alone played the two side by side for comparison. But, whatever.

One of my ex house mates was a massive Buckley fan so I would have to say I have heard more than my fair share unfortunately.

Well then I would say given your disliking of Buckley you're probably choosing to block out the similarities :p I know plenty of other people agree, not least after hearing Kennedy's version of Hallelujah.

Oh yeah, I think he was head hunted by the record company associated with the film, he does a wicked job!

Great thread. Myles is an amazing singer. Saw the Mayfield Four in Seattle clubs back in the day and was a fan. I got into Alter Bridge specifically because of Myles. He's a great front man, and they put on a fun show. My recording of Alter Bridge's Seattle show last November is up on The Traders Den and on Dimeadozen if anyone is interested.

    Average singer, yeah ok......

You might not like his music or voice, but in the purest sense of what we understand a singer to be (and I don't mean vocalist, because that term is open to interpretation), he IS an incredible singer.

As much as I enjoy his work in Alter Bridge (I know they haven't reinvented the wheel, but they still rock all the same), I think his best work was in The Mayfield Four. I loved all the soulful stuff he did in there, check out this song from them, the elevating note he pulls off towards the end of the song at the 3:12 mark is anything but average - an average singer would not have the power, control or range to do what he does.

    So, that's what I thought.
Or maybe I think, because actually before 4 or 5 days ago I didn't even hear about M. K. and Alter Bridge. Not even mention Mayfield Four.
But. Even I think this kind of music which They represent is not so-high and difficult, I was crashed, when I listened it first time. And, probably this feeling won't change too fast.
There's is something within. It's simple rock music, I know... but strangly - not so simple.
And one more. It seems like the singer tries to be close to his/their fans. And as we all here know - it has big meaning:)
