I agree that Bono is, as a person, something of an unscratchable itch, however in terms of performance he has quite an ability. I don't like saying it anymore than you like hearing it but I'm just being honest.

funny cause i was asking people today who would win in a fight, anyways I like R.E.M. better then U2 large part because of stipe.

I went to my dad's this weekend. He wanted to have a 'guy's night in' which was going to be cool. But then he stuck in a U2 live DVD. I'm sorry, I love the amount Bono does for charity, but his band and music is just boring, bland and lifeless.

So I'll vote Ed Vedder. Oh, I mean Micheal Stipe.

I think U2 have more timeless songs although Stipe has that quite strange but very effective way of singing that draws me in more. Although seeing cocnert footage of Bono makes me think he is the better frontman....although he doesn't seem THAT likable as a person.

but thank goodness the music's great, otherwise i could be accused of being shallow ;)

well i am as straight as they come so it has nothing to do with attraction in my case....LOL its just bono's messiah complex that irks me a bit. i do however respect his charitable efforts.

    Definitely Stipe.

Every time he speaks, I feel like I'm hearing from an old friend. He has the one of the most calming voices I could think of.

Stipe. Bono irritates me to no end.
Statistically speaking, you're more likely to be pitied by Mr. T than you are to have feet.

Interesting thread because I've got similar things with each band:

I never really cared for either of them untill they changed their sound a little

U2 - Never disliked them, just found them boring untill Achtung Baby -

REM- Hated them - Untill Monster

Now U2 - I went back and am a fan of everything

Now REM- Still not crazy about older stuff, but I do like them

    So, U2 wins the vote
    I'll keep taking punches
    Untill their will grows tired

    Bono just irritates me. Period.

He ALWAYS wears those ridiculous shades! I know it's his image and all, but when he comes onstage wearing those shades i can't take him seriously. He may do a lot for charity but it's definitely boosted his ego, you can tell just by watching him.

Stipe is very enigmatic, and it draws me in when i listen to REM albums or watch the live DVDs. He's a much better frontman, and last year in Manchester he sounded phenomonal!

hmm, if that's true then that's fair enough i guess. But if it's not true i may have to grab them off his face and destroy them if i ever meet him.
