i have this on my ipod. one day a couple of years ago i heard this playing on the radio on WFNX in Boston, and i thought it was really fucking good. Had no idea at the time that it was a cover. Jules owns the song though imo.

Loved it in Donnie Darko, but I never found out who sang it until it was in that videogame commercial a few months back. Great song.

I love this song too, saw it on that gears of war commercial and took 2 weeks to figure out who it was, than another two to find what album it was on in the studio version and not live!

    Great song

The Hurting by Tears For Fears was one of my favorite albums of the '80's back in the day, so I'm partial to the original...

"A consistently good band works all the different elements well. A song has to appeal sentimentally, intellectually, physically, viscerally, and dig deep down into your soul and suck you into it. And after that, of course, it'd be a matter of taste." ~ Kim Thayil from Soundgarden

I much prefer the original too. Although it may have something to do with the fact that the Gary Jules version was overplayed and is now completely destroyed for me.

Is it bad that I thought it was R.E.M. for the longest time?
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

the gary jules version is a disgrace to the original.. he should be castrated, and have his balls shoved down his throat so he never sings it again

It's a beautifully written song, i like it. There were times i used to hear this song and get blue, cause i think it's a sad song.
