Right now I love Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips) and his straight forward lyrics, especially in Do You Realize?
But right now my favorite few lines in a song by Wayne is from Sunship Balloons:
"Now listen
I don't know the dimensions of outer space
But if our ability to feel love turns out to be just a comsic accident
I'd like to think this means that the universe is on our side
I don't know how far a man can go till he finds a way"

In my recent growing love of REM I've been noticing little gems of lines here and there-my current favorite is from "It's the End of the World" :
"Offer me solutions
offer me alternatives
and I decline"
Its tagged on the end of the second verse/torrent of words...Stipe delivers them in such a great way live
Some die just to live.

"Call me Ishmael. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world." Herman Melville : Moby Dick
i'm not what's missing from your life now
i could never be the puzzle pieces
they say that god makes problems
just to see what you can stand
before you do as the devil pleases
and give up the thing you love
but no one deserves it
the first time i saw you i knew it would never last
i'm not half what i wish i was
i'm so angry
i don't think it'll ever pass
and i was bad news for you just because
i never meant to hurt you

Still cannot fix
this broken machine.
Clutch it like a cornerstone,
otherwise it all comes down.
Justify denials, and
grip 'em to the lonesome end.
Something that they just can't face,
Some folks spend their whole lives trying to keep it,
They carry it with them every step that they take.
Till some day they just cut it loose
Cut it loose or let it drag 'em down,
Where no one asks any questions,
or looks too long in your face,
In the darkness on the edge of town.
Some folks are born into a good life,
Other folks get it anyway, anyhow,
I lost my money and I lost my wife,
Them things don't seem to matter much to me now.
Tonight I'll be on that hill 'cause I can't stop,
I'll be on that hill with everything I got,
Lives on the line where dreams are found and lost,
I'll be there on time and I'll pay the cost,
For wanting things that can only be found
In the darkness on the edge of town."
Another song I am stuck on now is Talking Heads:
"Drugs (Electricity)"
And all I see is little dots
Some are smeared and some are spots
Feels like a murder but that's alright
Somebody said there's too much light
Pull down the shade and it's alright
It'll be over in a minute or two.
I'm charged up...Don't put me down
Don't feel like talking...Don't mess around
I feel mean...I feel O.K.
I'm charged up...Electricity
The boys are making a big mess
This makes the girls all start to laugh
I don't know what they're talking about
The boys are worried, the girls are shocked
They pick the sound and let it drop
Nobody know what they're talking about
I'm charged up...I'm kinda wooden
I'm barely moving...I study motion
I study myself...I fooled myself
I'm charged up...It's pretty intense.
I'm charged up...Don't put me down
Don't feel like talking...Don't mess around
I feel mean...I feel O.K.
I'm charged up...Electricity.
Yes a don't shit where you eat my friend........thats such a great song by Ween. I like "I Don't Want It" better though because of the solo though. Ween was so great live, Deaner played a 20 minute solo for Pandy Fackler and Captian because Geaners foot was broken. THey still played for 3 and a half hours though. They also called it the hottest venue they have ever played.....everyone was drenched in sweat. I had some crazy tripping btich all over me all night though. She would bite my shoulder and poke my face, I let it go because her boy friend was apologizing and shit. It was definently a fun night.
Well, I woke up this morning, and I got myself a beer
The future's uncertain, and the end is always near
I've always liked this one.
and all the rest of the other lyrics from neil young's "like a hurricane"
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become Uncomfortably numb

Hold on to the thread
The currents will shift
And while he's peeking out
Through his hair he hides the pain
Til that Lennon song comes along
He'll turn it off and say can you drive
Jimmy we need to borrow this for a minute
Cause we need to escape
Now theres so many things that he's gonna do
In 5 lifetimes hell I couldnt do em all
Yeah and while he's rolling his own smokes
He says to me he's buying a new ride today
A classic deal the boss will give
He said the same thing two weeks ago
You've seen that sweaty jet rag feeling come over him
And I've seen that boy knod into a dream a time or two
And on his way out hisglazed stare will make you stop and wonder
Hey William is that the last time I'm gonna look at you
But then the next day the phone will ring
And it will be him
Can you drive
Jimmy what would you say
What would you do
Oh should I pray
Or do you think that this blind mind would listen to me....anyway
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll ride the wave
Where it takes me
I'll hold the pain
Release me
Are stolen as the old moon falls
My mirror shows another face
Another place to hide it all
Another place to hide it all
And Im lost, behind
The words Ill never find
And Im left behind
As seasons roll on by
Sleeping with a full moon blanket
Sand and feathers for my head
Dreams have never been the answer
And dreams have never made my bed
Dreams have never made my bed
And Im lost, behind
The words Ill never find
And Im left behind
As seasons roll on by
Now I wanna fly above the storm
But you cant grow feathers in the rain
And the naked floor is cold as hell
This naked floor reminds me
Oh the naked floor reminds me
And Im lost, behind
Words Ill never find
And Im left behind
As seasons roll on by
If I should be short on words
And long on things to say
Could you crawl into my world
And take me worlds away
Should I be beside myself
And not even stay
And Im lost, behind
Words Ill never find
And Im left behind
As seasons roll on by
You can lie between her legs and go looking for
Tell her you're searching for her soul
- the great Sir Leo Harrison
'There's a bird that nests inside you,
Sleeping underneath your skin
When you open up your wings to speak
I wish you'd let me in'
'Desire Lines' by Eden Burning
'Like my favourite clothes,
I'm slow to take you off,
I'm quick to reach for you
In the first light'
And the entirety of 'The Piano Has Been Drinking' by Tom Waits
- the great Sir Leo Harrison
the past was yours
but the futures mine '
stone roses - she bangs the drums
I'll recruit my army from the orphanages
I been to St. Herman's church, said my religious vows
I've sucked the milk out of a thousand cows
Brave to try to gamble at times
97 percent use 3 percent and the rest goes down the drain
I'll never know which one I am but I'll bet you my last dime
99 percent think with 3 percent 100 percent of the time
if you rocket the middle bit, you burn all your friends"
COMFORTABLY NUMB, not uncomfortably...
Congratulations PJOceans11!! I wondered if someone would "correct" me!
Fact is UNcomfortably Numb is not a typo or misunderstanding of the lyric but a deliberate small change on my part. Pink Floyd wrote the perfect theme song for my life. Word perfect. Just need to add that little UN. Sure they won't mind.

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange
a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl,
year after year,
running over the same old ground. What have we found?
The same old fears,
wish you were here.
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
and i`m only near you when i`m gone
but one thing for you to keep in mind you know
I`m down,.....ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!
