Anyone from Poughkeepsie NY?

So,
I'm going to college on August 19th. I am going to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park NY (3 miles north of Poughkeepsie).
The only problem is that I won't have a car for college and I really want to go to the Bronx MODEST MOUSE show since it's on a Saturday and I won't have classes. So I was wondering if anyone here was from Poughkeepsie and likes Modest Mouse. If anyone is and you are going to the Bronx show in Sep. I would like to go. Maybe ride the train from Poughkeepsie to NYC and then the subway to the Bronx? If anyone knows the NYC area this will also be a help because I am clueless when it comes to mass transit and NYC (I come from Rochester NY lol).
So if anyone would like to help me get to the show or would just like to go to the show with me please post back..
