Not even close! The Boss all the way.

Bruce is simply a genius when it comes to lyrics, he plays a great guitar, plays a great piano, and plays a killer harmonica. His lyrics are so real, so simply yet complex...
He also puts on an incredible live show!
Among my top 5 lyricists of alltime are Dylan, Sprinsteen, and Vedder.

and a wicked pump organ , electric piano, and ukelele.

theres something to that " Boss " title.

I mentioned this is another thread-
I was listening to my East Rutherford 1 boot today, and was wondering how fuckin unbelievable it would be to hear Bruce cover " Footsteps " , bluesharp and guitars .

  • I've never dug Springsteen, so I'll have to go with Bowie. Ziggy Stardust is one of my favorite albums. Simply phenominal.

Ed and Bruce playing "Darkness" during the VFC tour may be one of the best musical moments ever!
    MY GOD THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

The crowd was literally bouncing off the walls!!

I wonder about those that don't like Bruce. Is it that you don't like his voice? I can see how some might not like his voice but I can't see how you can dislike his lyrics and his musical skill. His lyrics are eriely constructed similar to Mr. Vedder's.

I was therte and yes while incredible I think it was more special to hear a full E Street Band rendition of Betterman , including extended pianos by the Professor and the Sax solo by The Big Man !

The crowd was literally bouncing off the walls!!

I would venture to guess that 9 ouyt of 10 of them havent seen him live .

Bruce came first , so i would think youve got that the other way around.

i wasn't trying to say that Ed's came first. I was trying to indicate that they are both constructed in a similar way.

Yeah, The Boss puts on one hell of a show. I was a "fan" before I saw him live...once that happened I was def. a FAN!

I really like that version of Betterman, but Darkness is one of my fav. Springsteen songs and having Ed sing it was INSANE!!!!

this is fucking hard but on the basis that Born to run is the best album of all time I think I have to go bruce but very very close, the people who were all "SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!" need to do 2 things
    1-check out Bowie
2-realize that Bruce's work form the 80s sounds fantasticaly dated and all keyboard-y.

Bowie never sucked but Spiringsteen's peaks have been higher

hey i never said Bowie was bad or any lesser of an entertainer.

i was all bold on the SPRINGSTEEN ! ! only because of the original thread starters very common mistaken spelling of Bruces name.
not a fan of tunnel of love, huh ? thats due to julianne phillips ! ( lol )
I have listened to Bowie ever since Diamond Dogs .

He was very advanced and far ahead of his time, there is no question.

    but still, all in all

    the boss is the boss.

I like Tunnel of Love enough but born in the USA is too much for me, like I know there are good songs on there becasue on the live 75-85 box they sound alright but they sound like ass on teh studio and as such it is far and away the least played of my Springsteen records. Born to Run is unreal though just front to back brillance.

    Springsteen. No question
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

    Some die just to live.
  • Easy question, I have never liked Springsteen. But I absolutely love Bowie.

So Bowie wins hands down for me.

I like Bowie, but I must choose Springsteen. He was one of my first music loves. Got me through a lot of bad times - I used to listen to Darkness on the Edge of Town over and over and over and over, and rode my bike as a young kid to some record store somewhere to get The River on the day it came out and listened to that over and over..... The majority here seems to be going for Springsteen. I wonder if you'd get the majority going with Bowie, though, depending on what other music board you post this question on.
