He's not Layne, alright, but I still thought it was pretty good.

Actually after reading those comments here I was prepared for a far worse attempt. I think he did a decent job.

Nothing wrong with that, sure he sounded like James, not Staley, but what did you expect, arena karaoke ??
MOst rock singers sound far worse than that when they sing someone elses material. They can't have had much preparation time either, so all round, not too bad.
It was an interesting mix, anyway. My 2 fav bands are Metallica and PJ, and I find them more similar than differnt, both great guitar bands, so it was good the two styles combine !!
I would love to see Ed sing with Metallica some time, that would be awesome.
    Music is not a competetion.
  • It was a decent attempt.....nothing too special. Keenan's efforts were sublime on "Man in the Box".

Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?

I actually really enjoyed his performance. Het showed up at the AIC show here in SF and I got to witness this first hand. :D The energy was off the charts!! It was without a doubt one of the major highlights of the night (which is saying a lot since the entire show was a major highlight). I thought he did a great job of making it all his own though. He just had fun with it. He was definitely not trying to be Layne. Like everything else surrounding the remaining 3, this performance was simply a tribute. Done out of nothing but love & respect. Anyways, I enjoyed it. He's not Unforgiven as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Ooh and on another note, completely agree A Surprise...Maynard's performance on that was beyond impressive.
