...there's almost always "Yeah" on it?

the "yeahs" are written on their lyric sheets, so it's part of their lyrics. not just layne's style of singing. :)

  • I think most bands do that. They're just filler syllables.
    I'll cut you in.

This is pretty true. It's probably the only real downfall to their writing. I think it just helped layne with his song melodies. But you gotta admit, they are some of the best yeahs in the business. Plus, a "yeah" is way better than a "oh, baby."

AIC has nowhere near as many "yeahs" as Rob Zombie/White Zombie. his are actually on the lyric sheets!

This thread reminds me of this song.

we never like to sing whoa's. we hate whoa's.
    we're against whoa's. we hate whoa's.
    we prefer ahhhhh's
and na na na na-na na's.
of course yeah, yeah, yeah's are alright.
between AFI and The Offspring i don't think we need anyone else to sing anymore whoa's.
    we hate whoa's. we're against whoa's.
    we hate whoa's. awww

the first "YEAAAAAAHHHH" that leads into the first chorus in junkhead is without a doubt the greatest "yeah" ever recorded.

It's very common in grunge, you'll see it a lot in Days of the New, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc...

I Stay Away has arguably the best, "Yeah" in the business, second to Lithium I think.

  • When he was writing the lyrics the yeahs are from when somebody asked him if he wanted anymore drugs. He just accidentally wrote them in. Probably because he was high I guess.

Now was that really needed? Lots of great songwriters/musicians were higher than high.

Yeah sir, you are fucking correct, except the whole Lithium part. As my likeness for Nirvana isn't high.
But yeah, the yeah in I Stay Away really rules, yeah.
