Fleetwood Mac

Any Fleetwood Mac fans on here? I just recently got into the band, and I think they are truly amazing. Also I think Lindsey Buckingham is the most underrated guitar player ever, because he is such a genius and great songwriter. As a whole they proved that even though they hated eachother at some times they still lifted up from that and put out such great albums. My personal fave is Tusk, because even though it was a challenging album, it featured some of their best work, and most experimental, and proved that they could put out better stuff than what was on Rumours.

Any other fans care to comment or add?
Do you see the way that tree bends?
Does it inspire?
Leaning out to catch the sun's rays
A lesson to be applied

Up here so high i start to shake
Up here so high the sky I scrape
I'm so high I hold just one breath here within my chest, just like innocence

    what's good?

I only know the single stuff and I really hate it. Is their non-radio stuff better? What's their best song?

Buckingham is a marvel on the guitar, Stevie has been a great solo artist and the band as a whole really is a testament to the power of music since, at random moments in their career, it seemed like the music was the only thing holding them together.

I have "The Dance" video and one of my favorite parts is Buckingham's solo acoustic performance of "Big Love". The camera work is excellent because it often zooms in on his hands so that you can see him working the magic with that very distinct playing style of his (he's very plucky). And he goes for broke on "I'm So Afraid".

The guitar on "Never Going Back Again" from "Rumours"....so good. And to think that was only the beginning.

As for their "best song"...impossible to say. But I'd be hard pressed to think that you would take issue with "Rumours" as a whole body of work. It's just on of those quality classic albums that should have a place in most everyone's music collection.

    Gold Dust Woman
    Landslide
    Hummingbird

some of the lesser known singles

Dreams, Don't Stop, Songbird, The Chain (especially The Chain)

and I don't like Landslide one bit either...

    I tried it... oh well...

To be honest, I'm somewhat biased against that song b/c I was much more familar with the Pumpkins version before I really heard the FM version, and I really really really hated that version.

FM is better than the Pumpkins tho. :)

    fair enough
I thought you didn't like the song.
I think its lyrics are beautifull, and I had a hard time seeing how someone couln't like them.

If there's a guitar play more underappreciated and underrated than Mike McCready, it is Lindsday Buckingham. The guy is a machine. Most of the guitar players that people throw around here couldn't begin to play Buckingham's finger-picking stuff. When I saw them live and he played Big Love all by himself, it sounded like there were three guitarists on stage. Also, if you haven't heard it, check out I'm So Afraid (especially the version from The Dance.)
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

there are two versions of FM. the original is my favorite. this was a hard rockin' blues band in the late sixties, early 70's. i saw them in concert back in the day and they had a 3 lead guitar attack. they wrote Black Magic Woman, later covered by Carlos Santana.

my personal favorite track is "oh well"

The pop version is ok. take it or leave it. heard so many songs on the radio in the mid to late 70's i don't need to hear them anymore. however, i must admit that Lindsey Buckingham is an excellent guitarist.
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

rumours is a fucking awesome album............whenever you're at a party with "older" people (hahaha j/k....sorry, i mean like people in their 30s, 40s, 50s) rumours gets put on, just cos everyone knows the songs on it. the chain, oh daddy, and golddust woman are my fave songs on the album.

and the dvd "The Dance" is brilliant...........until i saw that i never realised just how good lindsey buckingham was.

and how crazy mick fleetwood looks when he plays drums :)

  • my dad put fleetwood mac on repeat when i was little. they grow on you very fast and then they stick. people find me weird at school for liking them.
  • Buckingham is a frigging genius.
  • you really ought to listen to peter green era fleetwood mac too. completely different band but just as good. and for proof of buckingham's guitar playing abilities you should listen to the version of I'm So Afraid from the Fleetwood Mac Live album - one of the most amazing guitar solos.
