am I the only one here that absolutely HATES this band? (actually I mean the stuff from Black onwards, before then I could respect their sound)

I don't know why... but it gives me a huge freakin headache when it comes on the radio.

Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All are their only good albums. And, even then they are way overrated, I prefer Megadeth, Slayer, Opeth, Bloodbath(has Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt on vocals, and significantly more satanic lyrics for some reason, suprising as Opeth only had dark lyrics and has never mentioned, let alone praised satan in any of their songs), Emperor, Cryptopsy, Ulver, Arch Enemy, In Flames, At The Gates, Corrosion of Conformity, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Chimaira, Celtic Frost, Testament, and others.

I like some of the songs here and there, but yeah, generally I am not a fan. Lars Ulrich has to rank right up there in the Top 10 Pricks in Rock and Roll.

I don't really put together the big hair bands and thrash metal. Poison/Warrant/Cinderella to me is big hair rock which in reality was hey the closer we come to looking like chicks the better we will be mentality. Thrash was Metallica/Anthrax/Slayer and in reality Metallica was trying to become a NWOBHM (New wave of british heavy metal) type band and take from the Diamond Heads/Maidens of the world.

I do not care for Kill em All (hetfields voice had not grown into itself yet) but Ride The Lightning/Puppets/Justice are amazing albums and Load is a much better record than reload or St. Anger in my opinion. Their live show is still amazing which proves its a lack of creativity in the studio and a shitty producer (Bob Rock) which have led to a decline in their lps. I am looking forward to seeing what Rick Rubin can do with them.

James actually writes some amazing lyrics. The music is an acquired taste. I hated them at first but they're in my top three favorites now. Lars does make it a challenge to like them but I ignore him my best because they still make alright music in my book (maybe not St. Anger, but they're allowed one complete shit album after 20 years).

didn't know that if my taste wasn't the same as everyone else's that i had to leave.

and i sure as hell wouldn't say that there stuff before black was typical 80s big hair. I thought it was probably some of the best thrash style out there... but I'm not a big fan of thrash.. but like I said I could still respect what they were doing before black. after they stopped playing stuff like Master of Puppets I just didn't see the appeal at all.

but hey, just an opinion. now i'll go away.

Sorry, dude, I love them, I always have, always will. My cousin plays in a Metallica-tribute-band and I see them als much as possible.

St. Anger has to be one of the worst albums ever.

"I feel my world shake, like an earthquake"... WTF? Even an 8 year old boy could come with better lyrics.
And during the whole album it seems Lars is hitting on trash cans, pots and frying pans.

don't need to be sorry... most of my good friends are into Metallica and its not like our difference in opinion should make us enemies or some shit.

I think more than anything for me its Hetfield's voice that I can't stand... which is really just personal taste more than anything.

Thanks you saved me from typing all that stuff about New wave british metal.

by the way kill em all is the weaker link, but Seek & Destroy still rules.
