Your Hand in Mine is the only EitS song that didn't get old really fast for me. It's just a sublime, beautiful piece of music. As far as the rest goes, "post-rock" (what a stupid name) is a tricky one for me. I LOVE Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt Zion, Tortoise, Slint etc but don't really dig the Mogwai-esque stuff much. That's the main problem with Explosions for me. It just seems like everything they do was done before them and better. Except Your Hand in Mine obviously, which is peerless.

so basically my top ten is:

    Your Hand in Mine

and then anything from The Earth is a Cold Dead Place and Those Who Tell The Truth...
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
  • The Moon is Down
    The Long Spring
With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls We Slept
Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean
    It's Natural to be Afraid
What Do You Go Home To?
    Day Seven
    So Long Lonesome
The Only Moment We Were Alone
    Magic Hours

Wow, that was hard to whittle down to ten. Haha. And surprise! There's no Your Hand in Mine on my list.
I discovered the secret of life, but forgot to write it down.

  • i saw eits with the pumpkins and they were great. very beautiful. i had owned a few mp3's from them a year or so before the show and i thought they were great on cd but, then saw them live and the music was just so powerful and beautiful... some people beside and behind me were talking to each other asking why they didn't sing and were telling them to sing. i had to explain that they were an instrumental band and that they wern't gonna sing.

i need to get an actual disc of theirs...
    music. love. life.
