  • I prefer his earlier stuff. He got a bit shit, further into the eighties, but didn't everyone?

His earlier stuff is great, especially his first 2 albums. He was ahead of his time then.
  • Props to the thread starter. I'm a fan! Laughter and Lust is an incredible album.

Big World is my favorite Joe Jackson album. I used to have the 'Triple Sided' album version of that.

As a single track though, I'm currently into I'm The Man.

Like Elvis Costello, I prefer Joe Jackson when he has a bit of a sarcastic edge to him.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

His early stuff is great and some of his later stuff is pretty good too. Steppin Out is my favorite, that cheesy 80's beat and sweet piano do it for me.

That's one of the songs that got me listening. Love that tune. The breakdown is so awesome.

If you want another great track that featurs Joe Jackson, search out William Shatners (yes, Captain Kirk) cover of Pulp's Common People. Has Ben Folds on it, and a great vocal contribution from Joe Jackson. Well worth the .99 on iTunes, and goes a long way to redeeming Shatners cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Now that's an interesting tid-bit of information, and something I would have never found on my own. Joe has some good tunes and really I was surprised how much I knew when I started listening more to him.

I never would have found it either, but I listen to a podcast called Coverville (http://www.coverville.com) that had it on one of the episodes.

    You can go here:

    http://www.coverville.com/archives/2005/05/coverville_86_c.html

To download the show it was originally in.

    Or here:

Where its on the end of year countdown. But you'll have to listen to the painful cover of Comfortably Numb thats before it.
