This is a final for my class and I am having an incredibly hard time with it because I can only use 5 songs and I have to do a full presentation of them. What would your 5 songs be and why? The only songs I have decided on so far are Smells Like Teen Spirit and Bittersweet Symphony.

That said, if I was in your position, I'd pick 3 or 4 songs and present those... better to present a developed speech on 3 songs than a quick flyby of 5. These are, after all, songs that define your life, aren't they? Then they deserve more than 15 seconds of limelight!
:V
Um, did you have a major drug addiction then?
That cd hit my very core, and hard...it still remains as valid today, as ever.
The Real Me
Cut My Hair
I'm One
Dr. Jimmy
The Dirty Jobs
If Pete never did anything else after that cd I would still credit him for making the best cd ever made...a cd that meant something great to me, and has stayed great till this day....some 30 years later!
Pearl Jam - I Got Id
Neil Young - Out on the Weekend
Radiohead - No Surprises
Temple of the Dog - Four Walled World
Kind of a common theme there. But those are some of the songs that really speak to me the most. If I thought about it more I could probably think of better ones.

Alive - Pearl Jam (I think Vedder stated it best on Vh1's Storytellers. We all know how fans turned this from a song about Eddie's childhood and converted it to something positive... "I'm still alive" used by fans as a chant of freedom)
Scream Out - The Unseen (I'm in a punk band and lyrically, this is perfect for someone in a punk band, "playing punk keeps me sane, I don't need drugs to numb the pain, it keeps me alive, I hope it helps you")
Fall Back Down - Rancid (great song about all the break ups of my life and a dedication to the amazing friends I have)
Present Tense - Pearl Jam (Pretty much the way I live my life... "makes much more sense to live in the present tense". A great song to appreciate the world around you and to quote Garth from Waynes World "live in the now")
Nothin But A Good Time - Poison (I work a corporate job and party all the time. Kinda the definitive work hard play hard song.)
