  • You call me a dog well thats fair enough
cause it aint no use to pretend
    Youre wrong
When you call me out I cant hide anymore
I have no disguise you cant see through

Well you say its bad luck
    To have fallen for me
Well what can I say to make it good for you
You wore me out like an old winter coat
Trying to be safe from the cold

But when its my time to throw
    The next stone
I'll call you beautiful if I call at all

You tell me Im low cause I've slept on the floor
And out in the woods with the badgers & wolves
You threw me out cause I went digging for gold
And I came home with a handful of coal

But when its my time to throw the next stone
I'll call you beautiful if I call at all
And when its my time to call your bluff
I'll call you beautiful or leave it alone
    You call me a dog
    Well thats fair enough
It doesnt bother me as long as you know
    Bad luck will follow you
If you keep me on a leash and
    You drag me along
« One man's glory is another man's hell.
You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.
Together in the darkness, alone in the light.
I took it upon me to be yours, Timmy,
I’ll lead your angels and demons at play tonight......»

Take it easy guys... I was talking about an acoustic version of it performed by Cornell about 2 weeks ago in Sweden. Damn, of course it's a TOTD song!!!

  • Funny though, I just queried the words "Call me a dog" on Google and the first set of lyrics returned were the right ones.
  • That note after the bridge leading into the solo is mind-blowing, how anyone can debate who was techincally the best grunge singer is beyond me....
  • It's a stunning version he did in Sweden, just listened to the whole show, excellent stuff I'm really looking forward to the solo album now.:)

Are these links to the version that have the "hiss" removed? If it the "hissy" version, I would highly suggest searching for the quality version on Audioslaved.com. It is simply a great performance that is well worth downloading. Wide Awake should always be performed like this. I can't wait for Cornell's second solo album.

That's good -- the first go-round for these songs (the .shn's) had quite a noticeable hiss to them. One of the good members at Audioslaved.com cleaned them up for us. This is the best show that I have downloaded in a long time (aside from PJ boots of course).

It's an awesome show, his cover of Billie Jean is amazing.
