their new cd comes out April 5th but most of it has leaked and you can listen to songs on myspace. it sounds as good as if not better than their last cd Aha Shake Heartbreak. it's definitely more melo than their previous works, especially in the guitars. these guys are young geniuses. this could be the album that puts them on the map in the U.S. ... supposedly they are already huge in Europe.

"Exclusive: Kings Of Leon Ready Third Album, Talk to Harp
Fred Mills
February 1, 2007
April 3 is the target date for regal southern rockers the Kings Of Leon’s third full-length, Because of the Times (RCA). It follows 2004’s Aha Shake Heartbreak and was produced once again by the band’s longtime partners-in-studio-crime Ethan Johns and Angelo Petraglia. The first single, “On Call,” drops at iTunes on Feb. 6, followed by an official servicing to radio on Feb. 12.
The album title is a nod to the annual preachers’ conference that brothers Nathan, Caleb and Jared Followill attended as children with their traveling minister father (the band is rounded out by Matthew Followill, the brothers’ cousin). According to a statement from the band’s label, Because of the Times is the Kings’ “most diverse collection yet and represents a major evolution for the band. Brimming with ideas, it represents a huge leap forward both in songwriting and musical prowess…. Since the entrée into the rock world in 2003 with debut record Youth and Young Manhood, Kings of Leon have [done] an immense amount of touring as headliners, world-wide festival staples and openers for the likes of U2, Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam. They have received a stunning amount of accolades from the media around the globe. From playing every major late-night television show in America and elsewhere several times, to features in most of the world's major magazines (from lifestyle to music to celebrity) and newspapers, the band's fabled story and mysterious, authentic and infectious brand of rock remains fascinating to the music cognoscenti.”
Er, right. Hype aside, among that cadre of elite international music cognoscenti we count HARP, which will have a Kings Of Leon feature in the March issue. Speaking to our own Andy Tennille, Nathan Followill reflected on his band’s rapid ascent and where he thinks the Kings are headed, saying, “Your first record, you’ve had your whole life to make. Your second record, you’ve got three months to make. Your third record, that’s the record everyone says is gonna determine if you have longevity or not. Every record has some stereotype to it but we don’t pay much attention to that shit. We never really set out to conquer the world. We always just try to make the next record better than the last. That’s really all you can do. If you start thinking about making the ‘big record’ or getting worried about how famous you are, you’ll blow your wad too early. Then you’re just the guy sitting at the end of the bar telling stories nobody wants to hear… Anyone can make another record of what everyone liked about their first two records. There are a lot of bands that do that and sell a shitload of records and that’s great for them but that’s not our goal. We want to challenge ourselves and grow as musicians.”
Added Caleb Followill, “We may not be as big and famous as some other bands and we sure as hell don’t sell as many records as they do, but we have all these people in these huge bands that we love and look up to that think we’re amazing. We could be depressed as hell that we’re not selling as many records as some other bands but you also don’t hear all these legends we’ve played with and who are now our friends talking up their records. So it really boils down to what you want out of this. For me, I want to continue making records. I want the last record we make to be the best one. I want to be in this band for a long, long time before it’s time to hang ‘em up. As long as we’re still having fun and making folks like Bono and Eddie Vedder want to play music, that’s all we can ask for.”
Watch for a tour from the Kings immediately after the release of Because Of The Times, including a spotlighted slot at Coachella as well as soon-to-be-announced other festivals."

Ambitious, eclectic and intended to throw their fans "for a loop", the very first new music from the Kings Of Leon's album 'Because Of The Times' (in stores March 31) can now be heard on their MySpace page, with first single 'On Call' freshly posted for fans to check out. On your radios from Monday, March 5, the groove-laden tune features the band's first ever dally into vocal effects - listen to it here.
'On Call' is the first single from the highly anticipated third album 'Because Of The Times' by those Nashville rock spunks, Kings Of Leon.
Now playing on their MySpace page the slower track is a little more relaxed than the "fuzz-encrusted rocket of controlled violence" of 2005's 'Aha Shake Heartbreak', but still packs enough groove and sexy twanging bass to keep tempo against Caleb's distinctive vocals - which for the first time feature vocal effects.
Followill brother and drummer Nathan explained that with the new album (in stores March 31) they wanted to give their fans something completely different.
This time around, the band told long-time producing cohorts Ethan Johns and Angelo Petraglia that they wanted a more hands-on part to play in the recording process.
"We wanted to go for the sounds that we were hearing in our heads," Nathan explains, "because your record represents you as a band. But when you're young, as we were when we made our first two albums, we didn't know that."
"I think people tend to expect a certain sound from us," says Nathan, "but on this record, we tried to throw them for a loop."
"We weren't scared to try anything... I think that's the difference between this album and the last. We weren't timid at all. Every song showed us something we had inside of ourselves that we didn't know existed, which enabled us to be even bolder on the next song."
Diverse, eclectic, ambitious and guaranteed to thrill, 'Because Of The Times' is sure to be a welcome addition from the band Harp magazine has praised as "the freshest breeze to blow through the modern music scene since punk rock turned everything upside down and inside out in the late '70s."
