Coming Home Media will release If All Goes Wrong, a double DVD commemorative package celebrating the recent reunion and extraordinary 20-year career of The Smashing Pumpkins, one of rock's defining and most acclaimed bands, on Nov. 11th.

Directed and produced by Jack Gulick (Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Steve Miller Band, Godsmack) and Daniel E Catullo III (Steve Miller Band, Godsmack, Rush, Dave Matthews Band), the two DVD set contains the 105-minute documentary, also titled If All Goes Wrong, plus The Fillmore Residency, a full concert filmed in late July and early August of 2007 over five of the 11 sold-out nights at the famed Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA.

The concert disc was captured in 5.1 Surround Sound and state-of-the-art high definition from 12 cameras and features seven all new tracks not available anywhere else, along with new versions of fan favorites and a selection of Pumpkins rarities.

From the opening note to the final chord, the documentary If All Goes Wrong showcases a band returning with an "enveloping epic force" (Los Angeles Times) as it traces The Smashing Pumpkins during their 19-show residency, which began with eight shows at Asheville, NC's Orange Peel in late June and continued through 11 sold-out nights at San Francisco's famed Fillmore Auditorium. Interviews with band members, fans, journalists and fellow musicians reveal the fears, excitement, determination, exhaustion and tension inherent in main singer-songwriter and lead guitarist Billy Corgan and his newly revitalized musical unit.

"We went into the residencies hopeful to play some new music, with the idea I would write during the day and we could maybe even play new songs that same night," Corgan comments. "What I didn't anticipate is how much the process would inspire me, positively and negatively, to report what I was seeing and feeling from the shows. The documentary shows that process in an interesting way that reveals the link between the band and our audience."

The documentary also includes Voices Of The Ghost Children, a featurette about the band's fans, and an interview with The Who's legendary guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend as bonus material.

The concert portion of the If All Goes Wrong, entitled The Fillmore Residency, runs 115 minutes and includes seven of the almost 20 all-new compositions the band composed and performed exclusively during the residencies that are available exclusively on this release. With 15 songs in all, the concert - captured in 5.1 Surround Sound and state-of-the-art high definition from 12 cameras - showcases the band as they explore the freedom afforded to them in a live setting, including the 30+ minute opus "Gossamer". Along with the new tracks, the concert also includes alternate versions of fan favorites and a selection of Pumpkins rarities. The Fillmore Residency also includes five songs recorded live from the floor of The Fillmore that gives fans an intimate glimpse of the band as a performing entity.

  • Im a huge pumpkins fan and was stoked when i heard about this, but Im very disappointed with the set list for the concert part. Even if they wanted to focus on Zeitgeist, no Tarantula, 7 Shades of Black, or Doomsday Clock? I cant believe they didnt put any of their "hits" on it. I respect Billy's vision and artistic integrity but I would have loved to see Tonight Tonight on their. And the version of 1979 he played on the reunion tour was amazing. Solo acoustic that he sings completely A Capella. I saw them on my Birthday at the Orpheum in Boston and it was hands down best concert I've ever seen. I cant wait for the 20th anniversary tour and Gish tour

Was sounding amazing until I saw the setlist.
  • So their copying Imagine In Cornice. Thats funny really, considering its coming from a band that hates PJ when Corgan is clearly Jealous of Ed for being himself all of these years. Something Corgan couldn't really do. Oh well, I still Like the Pumpkins, and regardless of that setlist, Im stilling going to buy it.

  • Coming from a Pumpkins fan,I agree with the people that say they needed a better setlist.

I dont think its fair to say Corgan is jealous of being himself. He has done many things not commercially successful that were true to himself. Im not familiar with the animosity you suggested between Billy and Ed but whatever, I cant wait to see this regardless of the set.

Corgan is a pretty miserable little fuck.

.... and I don't like his music, well, outside of Siamese Dream, maybe Gish.

And his bald head-face I find repugnant.

There was a video someone posted here awhile ago with Chamberlin and Corgan being interviewed by Yahoo or MSN. In the interview Corgan was saying how being political is a waste and it makes you look like a bunch of pussies, then they coughed up "pearl jam". I believe Corgan said more about Ed as well but I cant remember.

i agree the setlist threw me a bit, but i'm still really looking forward to this, alot of songs i've never heard before. the idea was to capture the spirit of the residency shows, which is why the setlist is the way it is. i have no doubt it will be a great watch. bring on gossamer!!!

Guess I will be renting this one. While the documentary is intriguing, I have to agree that the setlist leaves little to be desired.

  • I'd agree that the DVD setlist leaves a little something to be desired... But you also have to understand Billy (not that I do entirely), he's never been one to just appease the fans.

I for one was at the Fillmore residency and caught two of their shows (July 15th & 24th) and loved hearing the new stuff and rare stuff. So to see Superchrist, Rose March, Peace & Love, & 99 Floors I couldn't be more excited... fuck Lucky 13 rocks always wanted to see that and Starla is epic.

Personally I'd take this setlist over one littered with Bullet and Today any day... certain songs get old and played out!

I completely agree with you. I'm really excited about this DVD. I prefer to have a set of new songs that will be released officially, instead of having the same old songs over and over again. Besides, I'm sure the documentary will be great, and will give us a great insight of the new band and how they work.

Yeah, but The Crying Tree just doesn't do it for me. You can't argue with the $14.99 price tag. I will still be renting it however.
