Great guitarist. Managed to make a very limited and unoriginal type of music sound fresh and passionate.

    Died far too young.

  • my dad got me into his first band the taste when i was a kid, absolutely loved them but never really followed Rory Gallaghers solo career. Check out same old story by taste.

here's a cover version of it - worth watching for the two people "dancing" at the front

I love the dude!!! Check out the DVD of the '74 Irish Tour. IMHO, this is by far the best Rory video. I saw him a looooooooooooong time ago at a small theater in Columbus, Ohio called the Agora. In the Irish Tour DVD, either the drummer (Rod) or keyboardist (Lou) is wearing an Agora shirt :p. Check out the story on Rod D'Ath - very tragic.

I happened to be in Dublin a few summers back, when Rory's brother and the Edge dedicated a corner to Rory in Temple Bar. It was cool - I talked at length with his brother and met a lot of Irish fans.

http://www.rorygallagher.com/news.htm check out the very bottom of the page.

Went to Belfast, too. At the height of "the troubles," Rory was one of the few musicians who would play there. He is much beloved in Ireland. Cool dude; great player!

I caught Rory Gallagher twice... he opened for the Kinks and again for Faces back in the early 70s. A great guitar player.

I like BDS, but wish Davy would "show off" a little more on the album. The cat can play, but Roll Away was not all that special (IMHO).

Back to Rory - I could listen to Walk on Hot Coals every day of my life! :p

  • rory gallagher is the most underappreciated guitarist of all time, he was asked to be in the rolling stones but he was too good for them :p
