Pavement Love 'em or Hate 'em

No need to go all in depth here, just a simple answer would do.
For example:
Love 'Em!
For example:
Love 'Em!
You are just a negative mindless pud.

Pavement are one of my top-five all-time favs. Malkmus solo is every bit as good...maybe even better.
To me its the whole Replacements vs Paul Westerberg thing again, still good, but no comparison

At 38 I consider myself 'not young' on a BB like this... I have been listening to Pavement since their beginning and pretty much bought each CD the week of release. Malkmus: I like his voice and lyrics...but mostly his guitar playing.
I don't understand why you'd think someone is young if they like Malkmus especially w/ the recent, expanded Pavement reissues. You'd think with more access to Pavement material the assumption would be the other way around... Please explain why you make this connection.
On a side note -- In addition to the expanded CD reissues, Matador has released the first three Pavement records on 180g vinyl. RTI did the pressings. I recently picked up CR, CR and WZ and they sound great. Buy them while they're availible if you still like listening to records.
Tho I only started listening about a year ago and have yet to reach the point of being able to spontaneously throw on a Pavement album and let it play forever, this band is def a grower for me. WZ is my current fave, but I think I like the S&E special edition packaging/tracks the most out of the 3. I'm holding out for a reunion, with fingers crossed, seeing as how I was too young and not 'cool enough' to really know about these guys ten years ago.
I need to get the vinyl re-issues soon, and I was hoping Matador would give much of their catalog the same treatment (ahem, YO LA TENGO), but it's not looking that way. Getting Pavement and Interpol in is a nice first step tho.
I realize I was being general with that statement. However, I stand by my asertation that Pavement kicks the shit out of Steve Malkmus solo. Please humor me, and tell me what SM solo songs are better than: Zurich is Stained, Stop Breathing, Grounded, Starlings of the slipstream, etc, etc, etc.

When will we get a re-issue of Brighten the Corners though? I loved the others but this is the one I am waiting for. I recently read an interview with Spiral Stairs who said they will definitely complete the set but WHEN Spiral?....WHEN?!?
Oh and yup...I love Pavement AND SM & The Jicks. (I'll be seeing him in June in fact)
