Sometimes I feel like I am the only person in the entire world that does NOT understand Coldplay. My sister calls them music for bed-wetters. So I guess that makes 2 of us that don't understand them. At least I'm not completely alone. Is there anyone else out there that doesn't like them?

well to be honest I liked their second album, but aside from that Johnny Cash tribute song their newest album blows. But my girlfriend wanted to go, so in exchange for this one snoozer I get to go to 4 PJ shows, 3 without her and hopefully I'll be getting lucky, but otherwise I totally agree with you!

Well you'll most likely get to hear Ring of Fire because they play the same thing every night!

I don't get the hype around their music either. I even tried listening to it more than once...and it did nothing for me.

im going to see them tonite. seen them 2x before. i like them, but there concerts arent what you'd consider "rockin" in the conventional sense. in the same category (though not as good) as say, pink floyd. its a show i can go see with my lady (not a big rocker), save the harder shows for my friends. wont take my lady to see pj cause i dont think she'd appreciate them, so im going to 4 different shows with various friends

funny story, went to the krock clause fest 4 years ago and they were playing with mostly harder acts (audioslave, queens of the stone age, boxcar racer, stone sour, zwan, vines, new found glory, taproot) and people were moshing and crowd surfing to their music. kinda bizzare. chris made some comment about he'd never seen moshing at one of their shows

I really enjoyed their first cd.

I was lukewarm towards their second cd.

    X&Y did nothing for me.

I saw them in concert for the first time a few weeks ago in Dallas. It was dreadfully boring.

I hope your experience is better than mine.

went to show last nite, and i gotta say i thought they were really good, best of 3 shows ive seen them. very energetic, and they sounded good. i had great seats, directly to the left of the stage in the first tier about 4-5 rows back. richard ashcroft opening i thought was also pretty good.

  • yeah it was pretty good, I was surprised! I only sat down for 2 songs. Richard Ascroft was awesome, I didn't realize he was opening. Bittersweet Symphony live with a little Thank You for Letting me be myself again was awesome and totally unexpected. and I got lucky afterward, a pleasantly good time throughout!

now my next shows, barring any surprises, are PJ in May and June!
  • I really enjoy Coldplay myself, and I thought X&Y was a great album. Only a few of my friends are Coldplay fans. The others, like many in this thread, find Coldplay to be tremendously boring. To each his own, I guess.

Coldplay is definitely a very mellow band, and I'm not sure how a big arena concert would go over (I've never seen them before), but I still dig.

i seem to always get stuck in the lame people section, where few people stand up, and that was the case last nite, although i did for a few songs. . .yeah my next show is going to see live on may 11th at the nokia theater followed by my 1st of 4 pj shows the next day in albany. nothing like back to back shows. . .congrats on getting laid. i was not as fortunate

I hate when that happens. You're a concert, people, get up off yer asses!

When I saw PJ in 2000, I was stuck waaaaaay up in the corner and it seemed as though me and my friend (and some guy a few rows up who was ridiculously drunk and flailing his arms about) were the only ones standing.

yeah, don't worry nobody sits down at PJ! and as far as getting lucky my girlfriend wanted to see this show so it was all but guarenteed! its not like I caught a random bird at the show. and there were some hot birds there. but keep on rocking in the free world!

I liked em when they played here a month ago, even though we might have had the worst seats in the house. Their lights show is pretty cool too.

I've seen them a couple of times and would definitely see them again. I think their shows are a very positive and uplifting experience. Both shows I've seen were absolutely euphoric and I left feeling extremely happy and vibrant.

not in a giving mood after you took her to the show? damn, better luck next time. I can assure you that after PJ, I will NOT be getting lucky. I will be so exhausted and banged up from seeing the best f'n band I've ever known to do anything but sleep and prepare for the next one. its like being quarterback the night before the super bowl.

well anyway enough of that talk, Coldplay was good, when he ran to the back was funny. He's definitely got a bit of "Gay" in him (kind of like the Captain Morgan commercials) not that there's anything wrong with it, but it was funny. He's a fast motherfucker too, seeing him sprint up the side in like 2 seconds.

I saw them at MSG back in September and I thought they put on a really good show. I wasn't bored at all, except for their odd opening act. I thoroughly anjoyed myself, but since they don't seem to change their setlist, I passed on seeing them again this time around.
