Those are the essential Grunge/Alternative Rock albums of the 90's other than Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana
And sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky
A human being that was given to fly...
Check out my band, Artificial Red:

It'll make you see heaven.
The Replacements - Let It Be (recently remastered, I came late to this title, it is brilliant and was released in '84. A sign of things to come).
Screaming Trees - Ocean of Confusion (new compilation on Epic Legacy) - great band from that period, although like S Asylum, slightly before (87...), very influential among their peers at the time. Cobain and Mark Lanegan were best friends.
a must have!
plus Bush's first 2 discs are great.
and my sleeper is Quicksand (slip)
Gotta love Automatic for the people.I always think of that in the same category as Ten and Nevermind.
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

And if you want some real grunge check out Endino's Worm, Jack Endino's band Jack along with The Melvins and Skin Yard are what you'd call the Grandfathers of the "grunge" sound, Jack produced Nirvana's debut album Bleach which is also an essential grunge purchase.
One of the best albums ever made...but grunge?? I'd hardly classify anything REM ever did as grunge.
Not necessarily grunge but it was it isn't too far from Nirvana Unplugged or Vitalogy in terms of atmosphere and lyrics.
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

and definitely grunge era. that time period had a ton of great music come out of it.
take a look at 2000-2005. doodoo. some good bands, don't get me wrong, but not the quality of music that we've listed here.
Hole - Live Through This (everybody hates Courtney but this is a fantastic album IMO)
Singles the Motion Picture Soundtrack
both great calls as well!!
