just walk away while you still can... :D

sorry but not a fan of the crue... I argue with my best mate all the time cos loves motley crue and hates pearl jam. I'd like to think I'm in the right.

  • Vince Neil can't sing and never could...But the good news is Steven Tyler can so save your cheese and get yourself a few extra beers at the show.
    Oh dear dad
    Can you see me now

  • Motley Crue are a guilty pleasure of mine and put on one helluva show. Mind you, it's not for the faint of heart or easily offended. Aerosmith better be on top of their game on this tour because the Crue are back and better than ever. It's something you can only understand once you've seen them.

As far as what Crue albums to start with, I would go with Dr. Feelgood; Girls, Girl, Girls and Shout at The Devil. I'm not as familiar with their newer stuff when they went through some temporary line-up changes. As far as a comprehensive CD with all their best material, try Red, White and Crue. They are supposed to be working on a new album with all of the original members.

without a doubt they are the worst band in the world and probably of all time which if nothing else is something they can be proud of. Other than that they are a fucking joke

  • I thought Nickelback held that honor or should I say dishonor? Or was it Limp Bizkit?
  • Crue are ace, I saw them last year and they put on such a good live show, would love to be able to watch this tour with Aerosmith that would be so special.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.

You'll enjoy the show, both bands are very good live. I've seen the Crue numerous times, always a good show.
As for albums, I'd start with "Shout at the Devil", then prabably go for "Dr. Feelgood" and the debut "Too Fast For Love", or you could get the recent "Red, White and Crue" greatest hits package.

Don't let the negative comments here sway you, go and enjoy the show. Thats why they make chocolate and vanilla, enjoy the flavor you like and let the others have their Nickelback and Creed when they aren't listening to PJ.
    This weekend we rock Portland

For someone new, I'd say Red, White, and Crue is about all you need. From there, I'd say their only consistently good albums were the first two. There's way too much filler on Theatre of Pain and Girls, Girls, Girls, and most of the good songs on Dr. Feelgood are on RW&C.
Statistically speaking, you're more likely to be pitied by Mr. T than you are to have feet.
  • I'm willing to admit that I still like Crue. And I actually wasn't much of a fan back in the day.

But I sure as hell wouldn't see Aerosmith.

  • motley crue are rock legends, and there's a reason why. many on here are snobs about their music, which is fine, since everyone can have their own opinion. but i LOVE motley and pearl jam, so if that tells you anything, it's that you can like both, and appreciate their differences and what they've both meant to rock music. crue may not write politically oriented songs or have the most polished sound, but they fucking rock live and that's what they're all about. i've seen them 3 times now and have enjoyed each show, ALTHOUGH vince definitely is showing his age (most singers do at his age, ed vedder aside).

my personal favorite album by them is girls, girls, girls and dr. feelgood is my least favorite (other than theatre of pain, which is universally considered their worst album)

so i'd start with too fast for love, shout at the devil and girls girls girls. too fast for love sounds really dated, production-wise, but that's part of what i love about it... bottom line is they write great songs.

and enjoy the show with aerosmith, another older band that still knows how to put on a great show. although their ticket prices are out-fucking-rageous. $200 for the best seats in the house...

Motley Crue are what Gun's 'n' Roses would have sounded like if they had no song writing talent ;)

I think MC's debut may well be the worst album i've ever heard, horrors of Vince's weedy, whiny voice squealing about 'Merry go round and round' is enough to kill your interest in music for years :)

Still each to their own, I love Duran Duran :)
  • have to admit they are something of a guilty pleasure for me too... they're no guns n' roses, but always enjoyed them up to a point.

last summer i went to see them and aside from just feeling a bit out of place, it were completely shit, in every sense. like a circus gone wrong, with dwarves, pie throwing, fake blood.... name any metal cliche or oastiche and i guarantee it was a part of that show.

gone off them a bit now.

I got free tix to see Vince Neil at a casino a few years ago... the crowd was the drunkest crowd in the history of the universe, and then someone threw a beer at Vince, who then had a hissy fit and ran off stage, refusing to return. :))

I never understood throwing something at the band...

If you are new to Motley Crue listen to these songs:

Live Wire, Red Hot, Louder than Hell, Wild Side, Don't go away mad, Angela.

The Shout at the devil album is a monster. There are plenty of good songs from these guys. They actually played heavy. Everyone that followed after them really didn't. The next wave of slaughter, poison and what not was just awful. Thank God grunge came along...

Enjoy the concert. They play all their videos so if you get familiar with that you will be good.

Great show, I think Vince lip synchs most of the time but still sounded good!

    ENJOY!!!

I caught their show this summer. It was fun. Reliving my pre-PJ days. Yeah, Vince sounds rough, but Tommy can still bash on those drums like a mother fucker, Nikki and his flame throwing bass, and Mick actually surprised me with how well he was holding his own. I got what I expected, a fun show. Make sure to catch Alice Cooper. That man puts on a show. And at his age, he sounds incredible. \m/
