    Best part about Maiden is the dueling lead guitars and sick ass Steve Harris on bass to lay the songs out. Insane combo of musicians :eek:

    Best metal band? I don't think so. Best power metal band? Yes, maybe (but still debatable, there's still Judas Priest, Manowar etc to think of).

    "Mother Russia" is one of the greatest metal songs ever. great riff, great breakdown, great solo, great vocals, GREAT EVERYTHING!!

    man I hate seeing metal band lists where people just list bands that were popular in the 80's. I've seen enough lists wher rock fans put down slayer/sabbath/pantera/metallica/maiden/priest/kiss.motley crue to make me barf.

    For anyone who likes Maiden and thinks their best live album is Live After Death -- I would suggest trying to pick up Beast Over Hammersmith. It was issued as a CD from the Eddie's Archive box set. I believe the box set is now out of print, but that show from '82 kills...kills Live After death.

    i personally don't think Kiss was all that great, but as to fan base & record sales. they BLOW Iron Maiden outta the water..

    as to Rush, 2112 Overture , ByTor & the Snow Dog.. fucking killer ..

    another band that BLOWS away IM is Scorpions .. if U don't think so, check out their older albums.. like : Lonesome Crow, Fly To The Rainbow, Virgin Killer or In Trance ..

    Check out their latest studio album, "Unbreakable". It was a return to form...sounds like it could have been released somewhere between Blackout and Love at First Sting. I love it - its been on my heavy rotation list for over a year now.

    born and raised on heavy metal, it flows through my veins, and Maiden was a HUGE part of my metal upbringing. When I was 3, Piece of Mind was the ONLY metal album I listened to religiously. :D Bruce has an AWESOME voice and only Rob Halford can overtop that. :)

    Adrian and Dave's dueling guitars are what make Maiden MAIDEN! And the lyrics, made me become a history fan. Silly, but true. Powerslave, i really learned a lot from.

    To me, they are the BEST metal band around, even BETTER than Metallica!! yea I said it!! But not better than Judas Priest though:)
