Let's not forget about Harvest Moon by Neil Young

Also the years surronding it 90 and 93 were awesome as well. I love the early 90s so much. the mid 90's started to get a little diluted in my opinion.

The release of albums like ten, dirt, badmotorfinger, green mind, siamese dream. All became music i loved and are some of my favorite albums ever. It seems som fantastic albums have been made since but things just seemed to explode at that time for me of course i was just really getting into music so i'm sure that has a little to do with it.

then you have the great albums that i did not like or know of at the time that more recently i've grown to love like harvest moon and loveless.

You guys have listed some unbelievable albums. I would rate the 94-95 albums slightly better than the 91-92, but that's a hard call. How about 91-95 just being the greatest five years in rock? At least in my lifetime. I'm sure some of you would argue like 68-72 or something like that. Well, I'm off to listen to my Alterbridge.

  • I agree, there is an article in of all places rolling stone, that suggests no quality music has come along since the early 90's and kids are reverting back to pink floyd, led zep, hendrix, the who, and others because that is tried and true music.

    I agree about 1991/1992.

I remember that time. It seemed like an amazing thing was going on. It was special. So much good music.
  • Leading up to this past New Years, Q101 (Chicago) did their 13 Years in 13 Days thing....they played the top 101 songs of 1993 - 2005, and then replayed the year that people voted as best on New Year's Day. The year that was voted best......1994. I didn't even hear most of the countdowns, and would have picked that one too. But yeah, the whole 1990-1995/6 - best years in music (in my lifetime anyway). I'm sure it'll be another 20 years before we see anything like it again.....

I agree on the years and most of your list. The best years since the 60's. Being as old as I am I had pretty much given up on music. Hated the mid 70's through late 80's. I was pretty much just listening to old 60's music when all of a sudden all this good music started being played on the radio and MTV. We went nuts. Sure there was some good stuff in there, but you had to hunt for it and that got old. When Nirvana and PJ started being played it was like a rebirth. Finally, good music on the radio again. Can't wait for the next one! :)

  • Albums I didn't see listed:

Neil Young and Crazy Horse: Weld (though it's a live album, its a statement all it's own)

    Uncle Tupelo: Still Feel Gone

    Sonic Youth: Dirty
Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.
