Recently I have been listening to Neil Young. The albums I have are Mirror Ball, Reactor, and Broken Arrow. My question is: "What other albums of his fit in the this harder rock style?" I want to buy more of his albums, but I don't want to end up getting his country albums or others.

  • Weld, the live album. Fucking get it, man, you'll love it. Other great mostly electric albums are Zuma, Rust Never Sleeps (well, half is electric), Eldorado (though it's out of print), Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, and Tonight's The Night.
Basically, get Weld since that's pretty much his heaviest work. Then get Tonight's the Night as it's the greatest record ever made. No joke.
Using the word "methinks" in your message board posts doesn't make you look smart.
  • Thanks, I've been talking to other people, and my dad said basically any album of Neil Young with Crazy Horse are the ones to get. I'm definately checking out Weld and Ragged Glory.

  • You're dad is correct. But in another attempt to pitch you Tonight's The Night, I'll let you know that it was recorded with the remaining members of Crazy Horse and a couple other friends after their first rhythm guitarist, Danny Whitten, died of an overdose. It's a loose, dark, drunken wake of a record, and it's damn brilliant.

    rust never sleeps
    everyboydy knows this is nowhere
    Freedom
    greendale
sleeps with angels (this one may be a stretch)

the above have some lighter songs but have some quite rockin ones as well i meah EKTIN has the power trio of cinnamon girl, cowgirl in the sand, and down by the river!

Ragged Glory is probably a good bet if you like the rockin stuff.

first of all WTF? his "country" shit is awesome. Everyone needs to own harvest. secondly, for the rock ones, get weld as said above, Everybody knows this is nowhere (cowgirl in the sand is awesome!) and also try rust never sleeps. half is acoustic but i wouldnt call it country. The second half is electric
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
  • I have no problem with any of his acoustic stuff. I like songs that are played in acoustic. I just wanted to know which of his albums fit in the rock style of Mirror Ball. Maybe one day I will get his country albums, I'm sure they are very good.
