I guess I didn't miss anything at the Grammy's then....

Hmm I'm not surprised that the Ian Tyson cover and Cowgirl is in your top 10 :). Great list, lucky you got too much time!

Erm how about I'll get back to this post next week? Surely that'll give me about 4 days straight to listen too all of Uncle Neil! Then I'll have my 100 then... it shouldn't be too difficult anyways (I have my top 20 in mind already). :D:D:D

*Off to listen to Uncle Neil...*

i didn't expect anyone to come up with a hundred! as i said, feeling slighted for neil and off in my own little world listening to neil...the idea just came to my hazy mind.

it actually only took a few minutes though, the hardest part was deciding which songs to leave out...and yeah, four strong winds and cowgirl - definitely top ten!!! :)

No Love for Ambulance Blues or Last Trip to Tulsa? I did not see them.

Either way it is your top 100. Great list of songs.

Have you heard Ordinary People? I always loved that song too it is from the mid 80s ten minute long ramble about working folks. Hard working people, Alchohalic People, Trying to get to work on time people etc etc

I did notice you have greensleeves on there wich i have heard of, but have not heard.......
If you have not heard ordinary people perhaps we could work out a trade for those songs :)

    last trip to tulsa - # 76

you know, i've never really enjoyed ambulance blues as much as revolution blues...i know it's many people's fave from on the beach...and i certainly don't dislike it, so i guess it would be in my top 200 :)

ordinary people i have heard of...but i don't recall hearing it. i do have greensleeves, but it's a poor recording at a cafe that neil played. it's definitely listenable, as it's a great tune, but the quality is certainly not cd quality.

i'd be down for a trade though, if you'd like to hear it...

Scanned the list and I don't see anything from Landing On Water. Or did I miss them? :)
You've changed your place in this world!
  • I like Powderfinger at number 3, that's my number one
Teamwork. Rawk. Pwnage. Infinite Possibilities. YIELD. Hells yeah.
  • Helpless at number one. That would've been my choice too. Very nice.
Are you too good to tango with the poor poor boys?

no, can't say there's any landing on water there...a couple will crack the top 200 :)
  • Geezus. How long did it take you to sort that list out?

it took longer to figure out which songs i had to leave out! ...a few minutes maybe...then hours spent listening to the tunes in a hazy fog...:D i usually have them sorted in some form of preference on a playlist or two anyway...depends on what mood i'm in. so i took a few minutes to shuffle around for my mood last night...
  • i for got to put in an honourable mention for "piece of crap"...always loved the video for that song...and the story that he bought a fax machine for his wife and it wouldn't work when he got it home...and that's why he wrote the song...

    so, 100 1/2. - piece of crap.

definitely not trans. re-ac-tor and sleeps with angels don't have some of my favourite tunes, although some will crack the top 200 :)

"piece of crap" did get an honourable mention at 100 1/2...

mookie, there is no way i'm gonna type out 100 songs..

i will type out a few..

    neil is a survivor..

    helpless
    after the goldrush
don't let it bring you down
    cinnamon girl
    rockin in the free world

harvest and harvest moon (no deletions, not even Old King)

"Don't let it bring you down
    It's only castles burning,
    Just find someone who's turning
    And you will come around."

ty neil young for your contributions to song writing!!

    excellence beyond compare!! :)
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

great tunes...and the lyrics from don't let it bring you down are some of the best he's written. good call!...and we agree on helpless :)

back in the day, mr young's songs entertained many people, and imo, mr young is #1. case closed. keep on rockin in the free world.

    "did she wake you up,
    to tell you that,
it was only a change of plan?"

"i've seen the needle and the damage done,
a liitle part of it in everyone....."

  • yeah, i think he's entertained an informed as well, olderman. i think a lot of younger generations get into his music because they see that some of their favourite bands either look up to him or have been influenced by him.

all the lyrics you quoted are genius, in my opinion. and i can only hope that's there's much more to come! :)
