As I promised the other Jimmy Eat Word fans on here, I will give my thoughts on tonight's show. To put it simple, it was quite good. Actually my head is still ringing, as it was probably the loudest venue I have ever been in.

It is funny. I've been to dozens of concerts in Pittsburgh, and never heard of this venue until the Jimmy Eat World tickets went on sale. It was a cool place, with a classy feel. It seemed like it could have opera one night, Macbeth the next, and a rock concert the third. I got there for the last four songs from the opening act. Though I am not a fan of openers, they weren't bad. I didn't catch their name, but they had the crowd's attention. They consisted of guy on drums and a girl playing guitar, both singing.

About 8:45, Jimmy Eat World took the stage opening with "Big Casino." The 1,000 seat venue was packed with very well behaved fans who definitely new Jimmy's material inside out. The band rocked until about 10:15, closing with "The Middle." Normally I hope for more than an hour and a half, but for a $25 show, it was a good length. Especially since my ears are ringing worse than ever (and I've seen much louder bands than Jimmy Eat World.) I don't think anything in the venue absorbed sound. i would see something else there, but nothing too loud.

What I remember from the set....

"Big Casino" was the opener

"Bleed American" or "A Praise Chorus" was second--- I think both were real early

"Crush," "Always Be," "Carry You," and "Work" were also early

They played about 5-6 more songs that I am not 100% on the names. They did one from the EP from a few years ago (I've never heard the EP, but he mentioned the song was from it)

"Pain" closed the main set. The crowd was into this.

The crowd was also really into the encore..... "Your House," "Hear You Me," "Polaris." "Sweetness" (lots of crowd participation) and "The Middle"

Very fun evening

PS---just thought of one more thing. They played "Your House" with a different arrangement. More of a bluesy-feel. My wife and I both enjoyed it.

sounds pretty similar to their set in SD a few weeks ago..and if they were playing as well as they were that night i'm sure it was a great show. the song from the ep is called disintegration.

Saw Queens of the Stone Age there about a month ago. Venue was cool but doesn't serve alcohol. What's a concert w/o a beer or two?

Actually, I don't drink. It was nice to have a concert without some drunk constantly bumping into me or passing out.

  • My wife found the whole setlist. I was wrong about where they played "Bleed American." It was actually near the end. Not bad though. I think I did a good job considering I have NOOO short term memory.

    Thanks for your thoughts.
I loved them mid-October at the Vancouver show. The Commodore was an amazing place to get up close to this fantastic band. I was impressed with the guitar harmonizing and depth of lyrics.

Thanks for posting this review!:D I got my ticket to see them the other day,it's not til February but I think it'll be worth the wait after seeing the setlist there. The only song I can think they left out was the Authority song.Work,Polaris,23,Hear you me...I'd kill to hear all those.

Speaking of the venue you went to,I'm going to see them in a theatre which holds about 3 or 4,000 so should be good. The only time I saw them before was at a festival so it was relatively short but great all the same.

Thanks again for posting the review!
