Bumpershoot + live music = Wow

Now that it's all over I just gotta say holy shit!! Being a fan of live music, this was the best experience EVER! Last year's B'Shoot was fantatic but this year's was all that and a bag of chips! Mosh pits, sit down shows, all of it so damn good.
Black Keys = Wow! Gonna buy their CD today (or maybe vinyl)
Beck = Impressive - so glad we got to see him
Band of Horses - Not bad. Not hard to listen to
Blakes - They're gonna be big! They just need to tighten their sounds a little bit
Bedouin Soundclash - Not terrible...sounded too much like Big Sugar and not too much clash
Jakob Dylan - Could not get close enough, but he didn't really play our type of music
Vince Mira - OMG! He was fantastic! How does Johnny Cash come out of that small kid!?
Stone Temple Pilots - Well, you could tell they were all mad at each other. Started 30 minutes late. Didn't really play as a band. However, I enjoyed it and was happy to be in the mosh pit. Sour Girl sucked. I so wanted to hear that but it was quite the train wreck. Sounded like someone's first try at "Rock Band" and not really knowing the song. They pulled it together after that, but not enough...Still, glad I got to see them before Scott Weiland dies..
Superchunk - never heard of them before..They rocked and did not suck.
Death Cab for Cutie - Was this the same band that played Bridge in 2006? No. Ben Gibbard has become a "rock star". And the band rocked HARD! Easily the best show of B'shoot! Got to the front rail for this one and I'm speechless. I don't know what to say about how good they were - there were GREAT!!! Great x 1000! At first, I stood there absolutely stunned! People who get to see them on the Neil Young tour, prepare to be impressed beyond your wildest dreams!
My ears are happily ringing and we'll be definitely rocking to some terrific new tunes as we head north up the I-5 and find our way back to Victoria!
Thank you so much Seattle - for the great music, the cool people, and the beauty!

Black Keys - WOWSERS, who knew you could rock like that with only two guys... I've gotta get to easy street and pick up a couple of their albums
Superchunk - How did I miss these guys for the last 19 years, incredible guitar work, they can jam with the best of 'em.
Vince Mira - Always great, kind of freaky the way this kid sounds EXACTLY like Johnny Cash
Paramore- Say what you will, but Hailey is FUCKING HOT!!! The music, eh...
Offspring - Still rock it with more energy than just about anyone, so much fun!
Stone Temple Pilots - I thought the show was better than good overall, but it did start 30 minutes late and Scott was at times brilliant (Interstate Love Song, Dead & Bloated) and at times garbage (Sour Girl was a HUGE disappointment as was Big Bang Baby)... I think he was sober though and actually thought the band got along well, just a really short show (but the same one they've played all summer about 85 minutes)
Rock School Show - Most fun of the weekend for sure... How can you beat kids 6-16 that play Janis Joplin, Death Cab (with their bass player), Sex Pistols, The Eagles, Seaweed (with Seaweed's guitar player)... I'll never pass up a chance to see these kids play.
Ravens & Chimes - a young 6 piece from New York, think a softer version of Arcade Fire. Thought they were great.
Death Cab For Cutie - So I saw Death Cab because, umm... well because I'm a Seattlite and that's what we do right??? Anyhow, Ben Gibbard has no stage presence and I just don't get people's infatutation with this band, I mean how many dreary 4 minute pop songs can they guy write... Should've seen Minus The Bear or Mike Doughty.
Also caught some comedy (Janeane Garafolo not really all that funny it turns out), had a few elephant ears, saw some celebrities (David Cross and some chick named Amber Tamblyn... not sure who she is, but a bunch of girls were excited to see her... oh and I met The Mole!!!), and went to Flatstock (a huge hall full or artists that do show posters/handbills, some VERY cool stuff).
Till next year...
Death cab - These guys are too big for their music. It works in a small club but doesn't work in a large arena. As usually there performance was lacking up until the last song. The last song (and unfortunately only the last song) was the greatest performance I've ever seen these guys give
STP - They're getting a lot of crap for starting 30 mins late but they played till 11:00. Beck and DCFC only played until 10:30. So everyone still played the same amount of time. They sounded really tight but only played their radio hits. It would of been nice for them to pull something unexpected.
Beck- Great show on its own, but relative to seeing beck before, this show was a bit of a let down. He seemed like he was going through the motions and was less energetic compared to the past times I've seen him live.
Band of Horses - good show, they had a lot of fun on stage breaking beer bottles over eachother's heads. They were fun to watch and the new songs that they played has me looking forward to their next album
Howlin Rain - my favorite show of the festival. Amazing guitar skills with great songs to back them up. stellar preformance which is only to be expected when you're a member of Comets on Fire.
The Walkmen - another great preformance although there were tons of people at the show and they were all talking where I was which drowned out the band. Their new album is amazing and the songs all translate well onstage
Arthur and Yu - Awesome Seattle band that really played well. Sounds like a layed back velvet underground. Can;t wait to hear there new album as their new material all sounded great
Jakob Dylan- looks and sounds more like his dad unfortunately I was dulled by his music as a lot of it sounded the same and was all the same tempo.
Sondre Lerche - good indie lounge music. Had fune drinking a beer while he was in the background. He's a good entertainer and a really good musician with a background in jazz guitar.
Neko Case - always good to hear her as she's a great singer and is never a letdown.
