Gonna check out the Moody Blues tomorrow in Victoria, BC...haven't seen them since 1992...haven't even listened to them since then either! I have a sign made up that says, "For Old Farts, you F'n Rock!"

And I will be wearing a Pearl Jam shirt...cool!

Has anyone else seen them on this tour, or is planning to see them?

The Moodies are pretty lame these days, I know...but if it weren't for them, I never would have met Stevie Ray Vaughn in 1983...that was truly a great moment in my life! He was just so darned nice and laid back!

The Moody Blues kick ass. I will never understand why they receive so little respect.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
  • Moody Blues are sort of like the Radiohead of the 60's. You either love 'em or hate 'em, and I haven't met too many people that hate 'em.

I disagree that they're lame nowadays. They aren't quite the same without Ray Thomas, but they're still very good. I'm only 21, but I've seen them probably 12 times (my dad's favorite group). And yes, for old farts, they still do rock lol.

The Moody blues put on a fantastic show. I've seen them twice. My first time will never be beat though. I was 13 years old and my parents took me to see them with the Houston Symphony Orchestra in 1996. Absolutely mindblowing. I was a Big fan after this. Saw them in 2005, without the orchestra and still a phenominal show. These guys rock, they are in my top concert list of see each time they come through, if I can aford it. Have a blast, and please give us an update after your show.

I just did a search for setlist, and the song selection isn't much different from 2005 it looks like.
    You will probably hear:
Lovely to see you, Tuesday afternoon, I'm just a singer (in a rock and roll band) Are you sitting comfortably, Nights in white satin, Question, ride my see saw, Gemini dream, The story in your eyes,In your wildest dreams, the voice ect. These are common ones they have been playing over the last 2 years, and the last updated set I could find was March 2007.

Only familiar with a some music by them but they have a few pretty cool songs, I think they get ridiculed because they are a bit lame.

OK...yeah...It was actually a pretty damn good show - I liked the pared down, almost Who-like, stage set up this go around. And the old photos and videos (except for The Other Side of Life) were a nice touch.

I had such a blast - and for the first half of the show, I was the only one actively having a good time, waving my sign and yelling along to the songs, dancing and flailing my arms! EVERYONE else, and I mean EVERONE else just sat there like they were having dinner at gramma's or as if the show was actually on a wide screen HD TV. Who eats hamburgers while the concert is on? C'MON!! Really, if I had a microphone stand, I would have unscewed the bottom and flung it over the audience! Dull and sedate Victoria crowds! Boo! It was 1987 all over again (the last time I saw the moodies in Victoria).

Anyway, I was going to have a great time no matter what, so I did! Tried numerous times to get the crowd around me to stand up, but all they did was run and get a security guard who told me to settle down because the people behind me wanted to see. Five times security tried to stop me, but I just kept on rockin' out. I LOVE going to concerts!

However, it seems you can't behave like you're at a Pearl Jam concert when you're not at a Pearl Jam concert, or at least in Victoria this is the case.

And yeah, they played all those songs (except Gemini Dream). They did Higher and Higher, which was nice -- although the "blasting billowing bursting forth with the power of 10 billion butterfly sneezes" has lost its relevance in today's world - and yeah...made them a little bit Spinal Tappy (Listen! SSHHHH...to what the flower people say...). Isn't life strange was a flop as was Steppin in a Slide zone. I first saw the Moodies in 1983, as mentioned earlier, and the set list was very much the same as last night.

But Pearl Jam concerts are where I really wanna be...Don't need drugs or alcohol, just PJ playing live and I'm dizzy with euphoria.

Oh! almost forgot! My "For Old Farts You F'N Rock" sign got mentioned in the local paper's review!! They said it was a back-handed compliment, though - I was just trying to be funny...

cool review - thank you. Sorry the crowd got security on you a few times. THEY seem to be the old farts. The moody blues really do rock, they just have a different kind of crowd that rock out in their own way. It was like that when I saw them in the theater in 2005. The crowd was loud as hell and very energetic, but not energetic in say a pj type of way. I went and saw Peter Frampton a few times, and his crowds are exciting just in the Moody Blues kind of way. Cool your sign got mentioned in the paper! LOL!

I can't remember if I posted this or not...

Anyway, these are what I took...I like the one where the crowd is all sitting down...being the only one standing, I was able to get some good shots!
