I love Blue Rodeo. Their music is of course quite different from Pearl Jam but I love them. I think they share the genius of personal and emotional music with PJ. Anyone else here like Blue Rodeo?

Love Blue Rodeo... seen them three times in concert. On their last tour actually i was on the third row, what a concert.
Who cares if the world is going down the toilet? Eddie Vedder got his mojo back!
  • l digged greg keelor's last solo cd effort called, seven songs for jim
  • there's a lot of love for blue rodeo here on the east coast. i've seen them about ten times, and they never disappoint. the best show i can remember them playing was an "evening with blue rodeo"...a show close to three hours with a little intermission in between. great extended versions of five days in may, diamond mine, better off as we are...great guys and a great canadian band!

a bunch of us saw them in a club once and that was fantastic...to see them in an intimate setting. jim cuddy's solo tour was pretty cool too, as he pulled out some blue rodeo classics. there was a violin player on that one doing the solo from five days, and she broke most of her strings playing the solo...crazy!

i've heard most of their tunes live, but one i've always wanted to hear is "flying". they never play it. my friends and i yell it to them every show. we've had a couple of waves a smiles from the band, but they still never play it! we'll keep bugging them until they do...

never really gave them a listen till the other day when i came across a song called "hasn't hit me yet", i enjoyed it thoroughly
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable
  • five days in july is a canadian classic, hodge. if you liked "hasn't hit me yet", you will love this album. cover to cover...what blue rodeo is all about! a lot of canadiana too, from "english bay" to references to cold decmber nights and the snow falling on lake ontario in "hasn't hit me yet"...i'm fortunate enough to have an autographed copy, and i still listen to it a lot...i may have to throw it on now after talking about it here, and before hockey night in canada starts :)

It took me about 30 years but I finally “get” Blue Rodeo. I went to a concert this past summer in Edmonton to see the Dead South, Captain Tractor and Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea). I’ve been a Captain Tractor fan since the mid-90s and was the main reason to go, even though they were second on the bill and only played a half hour.

We stayed for the entire show and enjoyed all the acts. Blue Rodeo was the headliner and of course I had heard them but never witnessed a live show. They were fantastic! Since then I have located the “must have” records (except Casino, harder to find) and have to say, 5 Days in July is extraordinary with the vinyl album also being of superb quality. Looking forward to listening to the new album.

I guess I had to be a bit older to appreciate this music. Better late than never! If you aren’t familiar with Blue Rodeo… check them out.

Their greatest hits album is stellar from top to bottom and a perfect introduction to this amazing band. Looking forward to seeing them for the first time next year.

I noticed they played Conan and Letterman back in the day and those clips are on YouTube.  Really a stellar live act… such a tight band.
