Lets have some intellectual talk on what we think of her? I often wonder would she have made it if not for the connection with Kurt Cobain and her first album coming out around the time if his death. That being said. I think the b-tch can rock in all honesty. She is worthy of her fame although i know many would argue with that. She is an icon in Music for good or for bad or for both and i genuinely appreciate alot of her music. Her first album coinciding with Kurt's death was definatley up there in top albums of the 90's IMO. Though i always wonder would it ever have been recognized if not for Kurt's death. I hope that it would because it is a good album. I expect some nasty replies. But thats my opinion and im sticking to it.

Thoughts anyone?

I think she can rock. She has some talent.

I don't have much of an opinion on her...I think Hole's 1st album was pretty good...
It's a shame the only reason she makes the news these days is cause she violates probation...sucks for her teenage daughter...you think she'd put the kid as 1st priority...

I once farted into a microphone and had better tone than she does. I don't like her or her music, but that's just me........and 98.3 % of the hemisphere.

I agree that she has (had?) some talent... I also think that she had enough business sense to surround herself with the right people to get her ahead. But, I think that's where her smarts ended and all the success & credibility she had were totally lost because of her own self-destructive tendencies. Not just the drugs either, she made a wh*re of herself in a number of different ways. Plus there's that whole "why couldn't it have been Eddie Vedder" thing... so overall I think despite the apparent talent etc. she is a washed up cow.

More interested in what people think of her musically. I know her expolits outside of music are questionable. But hey it keeps her in the news and its always something interesting. I would'nt call her boring. Her moments are far more interesting to me than say the breakup of jen and brad or shit like that.

I really like her early albums up through Live Through This. The one after seemed to overproduced to me, maybe due to Billy Corgan, I don't know. She definately has passion and balls and can rock. Saw her live once. Almost made me uneasy as we were in the front row. I think she is intelligent but also has a lot of problems. I hate to see the situations she gets into, she was doing pretty well there for awhile, then downhill again. Bottom line, I like some or most of her music, but wonder about her sanity. :)

She's a great entertainer. To me, talent is only 50% of being a good entertainer. She knows how to get and keep your attention. Her last album sucked bigtime though.

I am pretty sure Kurt wrote that whole first album... Courtney is a talentless ho who just knew/knows the right people. It was the people around her and her drug exploits that made her famous, not her talent.

She may have some talent, but her music is mediocre at best. She's a poor excuse for a mother and her behavior is completely tasteless and trashy. I don't really think much of her as a human being in all honesty, but that's just me.

You people do know that Hole had an album out in July of '91 right?? And that Kurt didn't marry Courtney until Feb of '92. So I would be surprised if they were dating during the recording of that first Hole album.

I figured live through this was the first one, but I guess not. But that one was written alot by Kurt. She however was going out with Billy Corgan before she dated Kurt, I wouldn't put it past her to have had him do the album...

Perhaps i am confused a bit. The lady can rock and has some appeal. She is what she is. With her i think thats part of the attraction. I seen her once live and it was a great rocking show.

Actually, if you have any real knowledge of Cobain's song writing style, and have listened to Live Through This properly, it's quite obvious he didn't play a part in writing any of them. Not least because a fair few of the songs are undoubtedly about him, and the rest are about experiences Courtney spent a lot of time discussing. What's more, to say Cobain wrote the music, would be completely dismissing the talents of Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson - i remember reading an interview a few years ago with him, where he was saying how pissed off he was that Cobain and Corgan got credit for songs and riffs that he wrote. And for all that some people say Celbrity Skin is an 'over-produced' record, if you take it as the pop record it is, you can't deny there are some really catchy songs on there, and if you read some of the lyrics, they are in fact quite brilliant.

My take on Courtney Love is that she is one of life's eccentrics, and it's pretty much an 'either you love her or hate her' situation, the same goes for her music. Granted, she has behaved in a ridiculous manner especially over the last few years, but having had the life she's had, i really don't think anyone's in a position to comment - everybody deals with things in different ways. I think one of the main issues people have with her is that her creative out-put is less than prolific, to say the least. Even she has recognised this, saying recently how she had to question, if she was primarily a musician and an actor, then she had better start doing those things.

I think time will tell what her lifes legacy will be, but i personally think she has bucket loads of talent, i just wish she would start using it!

On a minor note, i heard she has been writing with Jerry Cantrell! could be interesting.....

I had the chance to see Hole years ago and I was actually pleased with the performance they gave. I am not the biggest fan of Hole or Courtney Love. I read a book about her called The Queen of Noise a while ago and it definitely gave me a little more appreciation for her!
