i've been listening to this a lot lately. the original version, not the re-make for princess diana. i like the marilyn monroe version the best and i think it is quite possibly the next best song after something by john lennon or the beatles. it's such a beautiful song and it's played and sung perfectly. anyone else like it?
Another habit says it's in love with you
Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend
I'm so happy with my righteous self

  • Used to listen to it years ago when my grand papa passed away...
If I could be anything in the world I would be your teardrop...I would be born in your eyes, live on your cheeks, and die on your lips.
  • not too much

i like elton johns black record with your song and maybe tumbleweed connection

i was suicidal in 1974 when i had honky chatue - stupid bad songs except mona lisas i guess

i listended to yellow brick road when it was new. i enjoyed it some. candle in the wind is a beautiful song. from the same LP i also like funeral for a friend.

however, imho, saturday night's alright for fightin' is the best song elton john ever recorded. second is your song and third is take me to the pilot.

madman across the water was ok.
the honky tonk album was luke warm.

everything after is of no consequence for me.

'my old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys,
my old lady she don't care,
    my sister looks cute
    in her braces and boots,
and a handfull of grease in her hair..'
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
