    I heard it was about Stone Temple Pilots, but that could just have been a rumour.

    Well, it was Stone's second attempt at singing lead vocals on a Pearl Jam song (Don't Gimme No Lip being the first).

    Bacchanalia and Bacchanal is the term used to describe drinking, dancing and general revelry. So even without a specific reference to the club it works in the lyric.
