What a wonderful world - "dark sacred nights" i thought was "dogs say goodnight" :D
Another habit says it's in love with you
Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend
I'm so happy with my righteous self

Gloria Estefan - Rhythm is Gonna Get You

When i was a kid and that was on the radio i thought she was saying 'Tristrum is gonna get you'. I remember thinking who the hell is tristrum?

i use to go regularly to a blues night at one of my frequents, they covered billy boy arnolds "i wish you would" the singer would slur the line "come back baby won't cha" but pronounced won't cha as wontsha , i thought he was singing "woodshack"

  • When i listened to Purple Haze, i used to think Jimi was saying "Excuse me while i kiss the sky"

When in actuality he was really saying "Excuse me while i kiss this guy"

Actually, you had it right. This is one of the most mishead lyrics in rock, with many people hearing it as "kiss this guy." It is in fact "kiss the sky," but Jimi used to have a lot of fun with it during live performances. I did a linguistics paper on this lyric along with the often misheard lyric from Black Sabbath's Paranoid (he sings "I tell you to enjoy life. . ." with people hearing it as "I tell you to end your life.")
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

In Rats my other half thought the line "Lick the dirt off a larger one's feet" was "lick the dirt off Olajuwon's feet" (as in Hakeem).

Also, a friend thought the line in The Manic Street Preacher's Faster "So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything" was "Sodamese is a CareBear, mad cows everything" - if you listen it does actually sound like that!

On the way to Mansfield, my husband asked me if that was what Eddie was singing.

In "Rocket" by Def Leppard I always thought he was saying "Get your...drugs!" instead of "Guitar...drums!".

It also still kills me that McCready thought it was "I wanna rock and rock all night, and PART OF every day". I crack the hell up whenever I hear that song now.

wow, i always thought the lyrics for The Beastie Boys song "Hey Ladies" went like this:
    ..... Tom Foolery
women on tv wear their hair like Chuck Woolery

    real lyrics:
Date women on T.V. with the help of Chuck Woolery
