Did a search, found nothing, so if this has been posted before, I don't give a fuck. :)

I'm sure most of you have either heard of this or done this before.

Several years ago a rumor began to circulate about a strange connection between Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and the MGM classic film The Wizard of Oz (1939).Synchronize the film and the album, a number of coincidental events occur.

"The Great Gig in the Sky" begins as the tornado approaches Dorothy's farm, builds as the storm worsens, and slows when Dorothy is knocked unconscious; "Brain Damage" plays as the Scarecrow sings "If I Only Had a Brain"; and the album concludes with the sound of a heartbeat as Dorothy puts her hand on the Tin Woodsman's chest.

Someone put it together for us. Enjoy.

  • interesting...
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key

Also try the Echoes/2001: A Space Odyssey sync.

Start 2001 at the title screen "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" and start Echoes at the same time.

Both last for approx. 23 minutes. Enjoy!

I recently watched the making of DSOTM on DVD. The band was interviewed about the making of the album along with Alan Parsons. This subject was brought up, and Waters said that there's no truth to it.

Still a pretty cool thing to do...attach one artform to another of a completely different context. The juxtaposition creates a new experience than neither artist intended...which can be a good or bad thing :)

yeah this has been around for years.

There was a web page that people did a lot of work with..linking up bands as random as the Police and Nine Inch Nails to movies and getting them to "sync up".

I remember doing this back in the summer of '96...I've done it several times since...fun to play along to.

Play the Wall and Alice In Wonderland together. Not sure when to start it, but I think its better than Dark Side of Oz.

Also, in the new Guitar World, Adam Jones said a girl wrote him a letter saying Lateralus syncs up with Passion of the Christ. I havent checked that out, but i am kinda curious.
  • I've done the Dark Side of the Rainbow thing, and it works very well. In fact, it is my preferred way to watch The Wizard of Oz. Also, even if the sync was intentional (which I think it is), why would a member of Pink Floyd admit it? It would totally destroy the mystique.
I've got to admit, it's getting better.

Try Dark Side of Oz, there is lots of info on the net about it.
    And yes, it works.
