Hey guys, I have been out of the loop for awhile. Has there been any talk of the boys hitting the studio this winter? Its about that time, isnt it.

    i'll help ya out...
latest i heard was that jeff said during a recent interview that they had finished and recorded 5-6 instrumental tracks. They were getting together during october to work on some other ideas and hope to be in the studio by the new year. I think he said "Stone has some great riffs, I think it could be amazing..."
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

  • Not meaning to be heretical, every time I see one of these threads I get a teeny weeny bit more bored/impatient of Pearl Jam. If they go into the studio at the start of next year we won't see an album for at least another year so it pains me to get excited now.. Much better to forget about it and rock out to Vitalogy, or any of the others. At least they exist.

The new Rolling Stone has a nice little article about Jeff. It talks about his new album a little at the end they ask about his day job. "We're gonna get together in October and have a handful of sessions. We have about five or six solid instumental arrangements, and Stone Gossard has come up with some great riffs. I think it could turn into something pretty amazing." Whats the ETA? "Hopefully by the first of the year we'll have a record to make."

By the way it's in the Smoking Section!

    Enjoy

The good news is that there is a very good chance that the new album will be released electronically (at least initially), which should significantly reduce the amount of time it will take for us to get our hands on the new material once it is finished.

    how do you know that?

Well, I have been a bit broke lately so no vacations or anything like that to look forward to. Its nice to think about a new PJ album coming down the pipes.

  • Spring maybe! I hope it's as good and arty as no code/yield and if it is I hope it'll sell really well. It will sell better than Avocado either way though (due to ITW).

still here... BANG BANG... killing rumors. but when pearl jam is on down-time, the rumors are kinda all over the place. sometimes the ol'RK will duck and hide waiting for that moment to pounce. maybe sometime soon, the ol'RK will emerge from his covert secret location and post a ramble...

I don't KNOW that. I am making an educated guess based on the following:

    - Stone commented in an interview that he liked what Radiohead did when they released their album digitally. He also mentioned that he sees that being the future of music.

    - Stone released his new material digitally via the 10 Club.

    - Ed's song "All The Way" was released digitally via the 10 Club.

Everything just seems to be pointing in that direction, in my opinion.

That said, I can't see the band completely abandoning physical CDs. I would think that if they went this route, it would be a digital release followed by physical CDs ....

well, as you remember, if you bought avocado from ten club you did get a instant digital version as well as the hard copy being mailed to you. i don't see why they won't do that again, it was awesome :)

Oh don't get me wrong, I haven't been abroad in about 3 years. I've got no money either. But there's more to life than hiding in the shadows til the next album comes out, especially since they're so slow about it.

Now, Kings of Leon on the other hand... I'm on tenterhooks for the next album because they don't hang around.

  • Yeah thanks bertan for that! That was a great read and twofeetthick is awesome...haha I also chuckled at that Creed comment in the end...But I really hope the wait isn't as long as it was between riot act and avocado album...I mean 3 years? But I can't say that I've gotten into the waiting game since I'm still just a spankin' new fan, but lol, looks like this coming up album will let me join in on the waiting game! Here goes nothing lol.....

they all seem pretty excited about where this record is heading, so that's good news! my guess is that we'll have it on our hands spring/summer 2009.

I have always been a fan but not a "hard core" fan until 2000. So I am use to the 3 year wait between albums. Whenever I talk about them I usually tell people that 3 years is the norm between albums. So yeah, its that time again! Yipee! :)
