Anybody else here like this band? Simply astounding musicianship! I lost all interest after 'Blue Green Orange' but 'Dig' and 'Scenery and Fish' were great records.
Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?

  • i remember seeing them in a bar with our lady peace...probably a crowd of about 1,000 people, might have been in 94? maybe? they absolutely rocked! likely the best show i have ever seen in a bar.

OLP only had starseed out at the time, and so their set was awesome. IME only had dig out at the time...hearing "levitate" and "so gently we go" along with "rain will fall", "not quite sonic"...it was unreal.

i saw them a few more times after scenery and fish came out and the shows were still great, but i got out of them after scenery and fish.

This is crazy. My bro and I were just talking about IME. I have Dig and Scenery, but I never realized they had other albums.

So, not so good after Scenery??

They got a new singer and it just wasn't the same for me. "Blue Green Orange" was the after "Scenery" and it has some good tracks on it but nothing to write home about. I didn't check out any of their other stuff but I've heard mixed reviews.

yeah, it's weird...it just wasn't "there" anymore. hard to explain. two fantastic records, then as you said BGO was nothing special. i saw them probably five times with the new singer and i liked him, but the band just didn't seem the same. i also made the mistake of going to see edwin (free tickets, thank god) once he went solo and he was absolutely terrible on his own.

i'm curious because i haven't heard much about them recently, but did they get another new singer? i know the guy from NFLD that replaced edwin is doing his own solo thing now. just curious if you know if they have a new guy and have something in the works? i'd be interested to hear some new stuff.

Lot's of great Canadian bands didn't. I'm a huge Matthew Good Band fan too and that is a band you just can't judge by their singles. They put out some stellar records before their demise and never really made it in the states.

Funny how I noticed this just after listening to So Gently We Go, and Production.

Damn how I wish the original IME lineup was still around. 2 perfect albums, and poof.. up in smoke! I couldn't believe it.

I caught these guys by chance during the Scenery & Fish tour with the Fun Lovin' Criminals, Stabbing Westward, and Porno For Pyros for $20 at Varsity Stadium. IME was worth the $20 alone.

I think any PJ fan would be happy having both IME discs in their collection. I don't count any IME sans Edwin as actually IME material, much like OLP when they started to aim their music at 13 year old girls.

Haha, I assume you mean after Clumsy, and I completely agree.

I havent got a chance to listen to the new singer, but I heard that (now at least after the Blue Orang.. album) they have re-defined thier sound to somewhat more of a tool sound. I dont now if this is true or not, but I def want to check some out now.

I thought IME had broken up all together. The Tea Party seems to be done as well.

I don't recall the hip making an album that wasn't amazing.

Agreed. I really didnt dig Quicksilver Meat Dream at all when i first listened to it....but this year dug it up and it grew on me quickly....its a shame that they probably will never get back together cause they had so much potential....scenery and fish is still in my top 10 fave albums of all time.

This is exactly how I described The Quicksilver Meat Dream to frinds of mine. They also put out a new song a while back, called We Got The Love, for sale on their website, and more is apparently on the way. I wasn't crazy about BGO, but I loved QSMD.
new album "Cigarettes" out Spring 2025!

I really like their first two albums!
Dig and Scenery and Fish were great albums.
Wish they had vinyl releases for these two albums.

if you are interested, they did release one or two 10" records, both in the UK. One was an EP with 6 songs on it:
    Levitate
    Rain Will Fall
    No One
    Basketball
    Love From Revolution (non-album track)
    Subterranean Wonderland (non-album track)

You can snag it for pretty cheap on eBay, and it's clear blue vinyl I believe.
