Oasis
Razorlight
The Ting Tings
The Verve (one song from them is fine, but the rest is rage-inducingly boring)
Queen
Anything involving Pete Docherty... Kids, don't take docherty!
Pendulum (Get off the stage, you're embarrassing yourself... it's not cool, it's not clever, it's definintely not funny, and most of all... stop calling it Drum 'n Bass... fast rock beats with shit synths over the top don't make it D'nB)
UB40
Abba
Limp Bizkit
- the great Sir Leo Harrison
let's try coming up with some originality, instead of these softball acts that pretty much everyone hates already.
the only interesting response i've seen is Sigur Ros
Here's some I'll throw in:
Jack Johnson
Art Brut
Mars Volta
Gnarls Barkley
Him
Battles
Flight of the Conchords
Ozomatli
Mates of State
Tegan and Sara
Phish
Creed
Nickelback
Trixter
Jackyl
Nelson
Good Charlotte
Fall Out Boy
Winger
Huh? Most of my list are very well respected, yet shit, bands.. who have 'actually left an impact on the art of music'.
Jack Johnson? When did he do that? Flash in the pan.
Gnarles Barkley? Flash in the pan.
Him? Flash in the pan.
Battles? Flash in the pan.
Flight of the Conchords... pretty funny, but probably flash in the pan.
Either way, you can name some obscure band names which a lesser person hasn't heard of. Well done.
- the great Sir Leo Harrison
To the guy who said the Dead and Phish - really? You don't like them (given) but "worst ever"? C'mon now. They have more talent in their pinkies than most bands you will see listed here.
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"
...and me Jez, they're pretty high on my 'bad' list too...above Queen anyways
Who says i was specifically pointing you out? I was making a generalization, obviously in any generalization there will be outliers...calm down, it's going to be okay.
and in my defense of my picks
jack johnson has been around for 7 years now releasing the same album over and over again, and he consistently gets good press.
Gnarls Barkley - danger mouse is hailed as a genious and has done a lot for indie music, but i find him uninteresting
Him- turned metal into something that tweens can enjoy
Battles - hailed as 'math rock' geniouses, but they have no substance behind them.
and i'm not sure why me calling out these bands makes you think i'm trying to ride a high horse. These are bands that are out there for anyone to listen to, i don't enjoy them, but others do.
I just don't think we need to point out the obvious by saying nickleback, creed, and maroon 5 in 30 different posts.
so again...just relax...don't take things so personally
Nothing taken personally mate and sorry if I came on too strong. Sometimes I debate with a mallet rather than a feather.
That said, I think that 'the worst bands in the world ever' DO tend to be obvious and famous most of the time, as they are loved and HATED in equal measure. The people who hate them can't see why in the hell they have fanbase they do and that provokes the reaction.
- the great Sir Leo Harrison
Well, after seeing a couple of people list Queen, I figured that this was more about who you really didn't like as opposed to talent.
I don't question their talent at all, I just have issues with that whole scene and they seem to always be at the top of the list. I think a great band should have a quality catalog of studio work and not rely solely on their live shows. Granted, the Dead and Phish have some decent songs, but looking at their body of work as a whole it's pretty poor.
And I have a huge issue with expecting your fans to have to trip on their favorite drug while you play a 20-minute version of every song just so they can "get it'.
2. Simply Red
3. Simply Red
4. UB40
5. Simply Red
6. Simply Red
7. Simply Red
8. Simply Red
9. Simply Red
10. Simply Red
And we have a winner.
Say what you want about their stage antics, commercialism and so on, but they have influenced an entire generation of musicians.
