Just wondering what are some of everyones favorite christmas songs. Mine are:

Santa Claus is Coming to town - Bruce Springsteen
A Christmas Song- DMB
Silent Night - Nat King Cole
Things were different then. All is different now.

    The Pogues and Kirsty McColl Fairytale of NewYork.........surely the only Christmas song to have the line "Happy Christmas your arse I pray god its your last".

    I personally love the whole Barenaked Ladies' album "Barenaked for the Holidays" - a few Hannukah songs, a few serious songs, a few jokey ones.... Some originals... Highlight for me is their version of "Deck The Halls" because it's renamed "Deck the Stills" and they just sing "Crosby Stills Nash and Young" over and over to the tune. :D

    For me it's not Christmas without:

    - Let Me Sleep by PJ
    - Christmas Cookies by George Strait
    - Singing in the Streets by the Barra MacNeils
    - Christmastime in New Orleans by Louis Armstrong
    - River by Sarah MacLachlan (or Joni Mitchell... I just love Sarah to pieces)
    - Auld Lang Syne by the Barra MacNeils (the most beautiful version EVER imo)

    Damn, great call on that one! I forgot about it. I like that it's just part of the album. It makes it seem more honest and less contrived.

    This song was released only as a 7” single by a small indie label, and it is now very hard to find. However, the miracle of YouTube enables you and me to hear the song and watch its video right here and now.

    Alan Mann was a musician based in the Philadelphia, PA area who was little-known outside of that region. But he did gain wider fame during the Christmas seasons in the mid-1980’s, when the then-young MTV network would air the video for “Christmas On The Block”. It’s a moving, one-of-a-kind song inspired by the people who then lived in a group house for the blind in the Philadelphia suburb of Upper Darby. Each year, the residents of that home would decorate a Christmas tree that would be displayed in front of the house. Even though the blind residents could not see the lights and colors themselves, they still showed their holiday spirit by making this tree look pretty for others to see. Mann was so moved by this annual gesture that he wrote and recorded this song about it, and had this video filmed outside of the house.
