LYV 17.12, -0.36, -2.1%) announced today that music icon Neil Young will embark on a North American tour commencing October 14th in St. Paul, Minnesota and continuing for eight weeks, culminating at New York's Madison Square Garden on December 15th. The new tour comes on the heels of Young's hugely successful 2008 European tour that brought him before audiences in 14 countries over the course of three months.
This fall's tour includes concert performances in such U.S. markets as Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Detroit and Philadelphia. Additionally, there will be multiple stops in Young's native Canada, including Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.
The concerts will feature Young with the same band that so ably backed him in Europe -- Ben Keith, Rick Rosas, Chad Cromwell, Anthony Crawford and Pegi Young. Song sets are expected to be eclectic, featuring both newer material and classic Neil Young hits. Death Cab For Cutie and Everest will support dates from October 14 through November 5; Wilco and Everest are on the bill for dates starting November 29 through the tour's conclusion, with the exception of the December 9 Chicago date which will feature (TBD) and Everest in support.
All shows for this tour will be general admission floor with reserved seating in the stands. General admission tickets will be prices at $75.00 with reserved stand tickets ranging in price from $45.00 to $250.00 (plus all applicable service charges).

Confusingly, Everest's MySpace site lists a 12/13 show at the DCU Center in Boston. The DCU Center is actually in Worcester, MA.

as much as i love neil i'm really getting tired of this pricing trend re his concerts
he's not worth $250(no one is) and those $250 tickets are for rich people which does not fuel the "this is what rock and roll is all about" motif
OK someone's gonna say...hey the GA tickets are $75 and the cheap seats are $45...whatever!
wanna take a guess who's gonna scoop those GA floor tickets are resell them for $250++???

I don't buy it. Wilco have to play the Chicago show.

this is killing me. I've seen this date on a few sites but nothing official.
Wilco plays a lot of shows in Chicago. I doubt they want to open for Neil there. Plus they are planning on doing their winter residency again probably a few months later. It kinda makes sense they aren't playing there.

I couldn't agree more they should open for him play their own songs. Then they should come back out and be his band!!!
I tried to explain. Somehow.

THANKS!
Yeah, I agree. This makes me lose a whole lot of respect for Neil. If it ends up being possible to get decent $75 tickets then I'll take everything I say here back.
However, I've already seen tickets up on auction (aka scalper) sites, so I won't hold my breath. When there are auctions going on before tickets are on sale, then there's something fishy going on. I would rather not go to the show if it comes down to sitting a mile away (in Ottawa that's no fun), so I'll try to get GA tickets, but I doubt it will happen. There's also an 8 ticket limit, so I would imagine that scalpers will have a pretty easy time buying up huge blocks of seats. I say shame on Neil...

I'm in Toronto, so I'm assuming it's eastern time. Not sure if all shows. I suppose it's possible it's only for the ACC.
