Saw Sigur Ros last night...

...it was pretty amazing. The show started almost an hour and a half late because the Omaha area was getting slammed by tornadoes. There were some ups and downs in the show....at one point the singer mentioned the tornadoes "fucked with their heads"....and I think it really did throw them off a bit. That and it was the first show of their US tour. Anyway, I have three pieces of advice:
1. If you have the chance to go see them, do.
2. If you do go, don't sit up close. I had front row seats and realized immediately that I had made a mistake. For a band like this, the sound needs time to expand/float/whatever before it reaches your ears....this band's music is built for that sort of thing and I feel like I robbed myself by sitting so close.
3. Despite what some musically ignorant people would say, do not enter the venue expecting them to sound anything like Radiohead. Falsetto vocals and amazing arrangements, yes....but the similarities stop there.
